Not sure what the story is behind the suit, but I'm hoping they don't keep tweaking and screwing with the basic design too much like they always do (Batman is a great example).

That, they are. This Spider-Man will also have more in common with the Ultimates version than the classic Spidey.
I'm not 100% sold on this Garfield guy. He has big shoes to fill. Tobey Maguire was awesome. (It wasn't his fault SM3 bit the big wienerschnitzel.)
Rip, did you see Kickass?

I did see Kickass! Loved it! Heard buzz about a sequel but haven't kept up on details. I actually liked Spider-Man 3 for all it's flaws -- the main one is the classic superhero movie mistake of trying to cram too many villains in, and I think that's really the studio's fault for pushing Sam Raimi to include Venom -- he likes the classic villains and never wanted to include him. The emotions of the film were great and continued to make the characters sympathetic, and the dynamic between Parker and Mary Jane continued to develop their characters. I know some people may have thought the dancing scene in the club was stupid, but I wasn't bothered by it. I didn't care for the "New Goblin" idea, but it was ok -- really finished out the Peter/Harry arc. Sandman was awesome!
I'm kinda sick of hearing about Ultimates versions. That line of comics may have been really popular, but I never read them and can't relate to those takes on the characters.

When they changed that in the 3rd movie I was pissed. 2nd...Topher Grace was in no way the same build or height like Eddie Brock in the comics. Brock was a muscle bound 6"2 man, mabye more. And yea...I hated the street dance. The club dance did not bother me so much. I just wished they would of went with Dr. Conners turning into the Lizzard.

Yeah, but thanks to the suits at Sony SM3 was a drastic dropoff from SM2 (which was my fav. superhero movie of all time)
I'm as big a Spiderman fan as there is and I don't think I'm going to see this. Sony can go to hell.

The costume looks horrible. His shirt is supposed to be chain mail. That looks like a dyed jacket. Ghey.

His costume will change, but they were going for an authentic look with what the materials that would have been around at that time. To me, it looks like they went for a modified flight jacket look. I'm sure by the end of the movie, he'll look different. Or who knows... maybe they'll start out the Avengers film with him being found in present-day times and show it then? I'm pretty stoked about the movie.
Rip Rokken wrote:Captain America has gone thru tons of costume changes over the ages, and I've read the movie will show different versions over time (kinda like Iron Man did). The chain-mail look wasn't always there, and the brown leather is straight from some of the books.

Cap's costume has been one of the more consistent ones, along with Spider-Man's. The chain mail shirt's been around for decades.Rip Rokken wrote:I think some of the Ultimates versions did away with the wings on the mask altogether, so I was really pleased that they at least painted some on to please fans.
Cap from Ultimate Avengers looked more badass, and he had NO wings. I was hoping they'd do away with the wings. Some things just don't translate to film without looking silly.
Rip Rokken wrote:I haven't looked back at the whole history of the costume, but the Cap I grew up reading had the appearance of "scales" in his costume, I believe drawn just the way Aquaman's was. I never thought of it as being chain mail until I saw someone draw it specifically that way, and it is definitely a cool look. I like the wings on the mask/helmet for tradition, but it's fine with me if they are flat. Never cared for the Ultimate Avengers look. Didn't the stars on the shoulders also come from that? I know they used those in the movie, and here is a statue I saw which has a lot of other similarities
