In the Philippines, I believe they celebrate birthdays for a whole month. Maybe I should make some phone calls...

A fool who has made a lot more money than the cool, with tons of great songs. When its comes to the world of hard rock, no one can touch Metallica buddy, no one!
They have that trademark sound, with some of the best riffs ever written ! Fool 10 - Cool 0 ! ;)

Piggybacking off Behshad's blast, um, "Fool" plays on a real good band, while "Cool" plays bars and clubs.

Rippy, really, I need to know this. Are you really that big a fan of Dokken? It just seems so fucking out there....what am I missing here?

Oh for pete's sake, not much of a Dokken fan myself, but you and Dan equating bars and clubs with uncool or untalented is getting old. There is some mega talented artists from the 70s/80s playing clubs, bars and casinos nowadays. So if you're not U2, Bon Jovi, Springsteen or Metallica you're not talented and unworthy of "cool"?  First one that comes to mind is Rik Emmett, when he played with Triumph he played to thousands and thousands, and on his own now plays in bars/clubs, doesn't mean he is any less talented than he was by any means? If you guys are only deeming arena shows worth with your presence, you are missing out on a helluva lot of great music and artists/bands! :P

Oh pleeeaaassse. Rik Emmett? Dude is very average at best. He sings like a girl.....on their one and only recognizable song, he sounds like a parakeet in falsetto. Guy is not majorly talented Deb. Other than that example, name me ONE band playing clubs who are worth a shit troday? REO? The Cars? The Band? LOL, Styx? These bands at one time were decent, but today??/ pure shit. Hell, the Tragically Hip are better than all those bands I just listed, and they play clubs!

Oh and Wools, if you are a once proud 80's band who now play the casino circuit, you pretty much suck ass.

Now now Deb.
usually I agree with you on the bars/clubs vs stadiums, but we're talking Metallica ! They are truly in a whole another level above BonJovi/Journey ....
They have the talents and they sell out. They have a band thats been together for years making lots of GREAT songs,,, songs that I think would have been great even without being on the radio. In fact half their amazing catalog was solid and great to me, before they became billboard material.
Metallica is one band you can not dis in your arguments, sorry.

LOL, if you consider Rik an average guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, then there is no point in even having this conversation.

Saw April Wine in a casino a couple years ago, they had tons of hits in the 70s/80s, and they definitely didn't suck ass. So if they're not 'lucky' enough to be some of the very few still playing arena's around the world like Jovi, they should just hang it up? I've been to lots of shows in casinos, clubs, arenas, etc. in the last 5 years and some of THE best shows I've seen have been in casinos and bars at a fraction of the price. :D

I wasn't. Some are playing arenas by talent and some by popularity. As much as I love Jovi, I agree with you there on Metallica. I was talking in generalities.

One of my favorites. I don't think it was even a hit here.

April Wine and the NHL!
