Henry Cavill the new Superman!

Postby YoungJRNY » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:20 am

Finally the cast of our next Superman is set. I've said a long time ago that Henry Cavill is destined to play Superman since his name has been brought up to be Batman numerous times, Superman twice and another time in the Justice League movie. He was also passed over to be the new James Bond some time ago so this dude is ready for a breakthrough. I'm very happy with this casting.

Thank God that never happened.

I dunno, I'm lukewarm about Supes stuff. They need to do something really major to pique my interest, like maybe Superman vs. a fifty-foot-tall naked Salma Hayek or something.

I was totally opposed to him being hired as the new James Bond a few years back, simply because he was to damn young for the role. Although, he couldn't have been any worse than Daniel Craig.

I am so sick and tired of all these superhero movies in general. Aside from the last two Batman movies, the whole genre is played out.

I couldn't stand "The Dark Knight". I actually fell asleep when it came out. Just watched it on Bluray (got it for $5) and really don't get the whole deal. All the bait and switches at the end just had me rolling my eyes.

The first Iron Man was good. IM2 took a dump. Thought the Incredible Hulk was really good, looking forward to Thor, Cap, and the Avengers. :D

This is going to be an entire re-boot, something that has never been seen from the earlier franchise's before. It is said to be prepared to see some great story, mixed in with great character build up and some epic, epic action scenes pitting Supes against villians that can give him a run for his money, especially with modern CGI, who in my opinion, Supes benefits most from. It's going to be a wild flick and a whole new approach on the franchise.

Brandon Routh deserved another shot. He was great in Superman Returns, which isn't half as bad as the fanboys make it out to be. Now he'll go down in history as the George Lazenby of the Superman series. Shame.

I LOVE OHMSS too. Lazenby's humor was awesome.

my thoughts exactly. One or two every now and then is ok. One or two every other week is getting a bit much. I think the studios look at it as easy money with some amount of a built-in fanbase. The entire reboot every three years thing is getting very old very quickly however. Proof positive that there isn't much innovation going on in Hollywood either.

This is a fanboy manip, it isn't even his hair, his facial structure, or his body and the suite that's going to be required in making it his own pose and Superman-like look. If anything Cavill is FAR from a pretty boy! Those days are gone. Cavill has a striking appeaence and a stare and eyes that can burn right through you. Brandon Routh had NO realism to him. He was SO damn generic and didn't even have a chance because he was asked to be a new generation and kiss-ass, watered down version of Christopher Reeve in SR, which was beyond horrid to the point to where I walked out asking myself what I just witnessed, which was NOTHING. All he did was lift heavy things, was a dead-beat dad, spied on Lois Lane, was a home-wrecker, and when an action scene presented itself, he got his ass kicked. A pure shit of a movie and on the character that is Superman. That suite looked like he was wrapped up in a fruit rollup!

Cavill:

Far from boyish.

I will tell you this, whatever they come up with when WB release's the first production pic of Cavill as Kal-El, it SURE as hell WILL be better than this shit:

Image

^ So un-inspired and acts as a complete fraud of such an iconic character. SR was simply a movie of respect to the Donner franchise and was very weak and failed on all fronts. This new re-boot is going to be rockin. I'm fired up with this casting. I'm hoping the villain will be either the Parasite or Bizzaro.

Agree 100%. Now if they would put out a Family Guy Movie, I wioulod be first in line to see that.

But Hulk, Superman, three times, Catwoman, Jesus Christ....how about a hot Wonder Woman movie? THAT I would go see. Or how about a movie about OG and his career?

I am somewhat nervous of the Springsteen movie coming....I am a bit apprehensive as a fan, to see if they get it right or fuck it all up.

They were in major production for a Wonder Woman movie but it fell through pretty harshly. Wonder Woman will be getting a T.V series I believe out of the deal though. That means weekly masturbation material, lmao.

Not only is Wonder Woman going to be a TV show, she's not even going to be "Princess Diana" with an invisible plane. She's going to be some ordinary crime-fighter based in L.A. Suit-by-day, vigilante-by-night kind of scenario. At least that's what I read.

And he did a fine job of it. Routh emulated Reeves to a certain degree, but what of it? Journey fans should be the last people bitching about clones or replacements. It worked for me anyway. The more pertinent question concerning this reboot is whether it will be fun and fast paced like Znyder's 300 or a self-important snooze like Watchmen.

Yeah, OHMSS is an underrated Bond film. I like Lazenby better as Bond than Daniel Craig.

If you didn't read Watchmen when it came out, you won't like the movie.

"Fun and fast-paced" like 300? Add in cheeseball, over-the-top, ridiculous, bloated, etc. The only good thing about that movie was seeing whatshername's naked bod. Apart from that, it's pretty much a movie for gay guys and people that don't mind a little cinema with their CGI.

I agree Drew, which is the whole entire point of having a re-boot. Since that same story was re-told in 2006, they canned that Superman, completley shattered that from existence and the plan is to RE-INTRODUCE Superman to a whole new audience to insert him into the new and modern heroic age, EXACTLY what Chris Nolan did with Batman Begins and the Bat-Franchise, which lit up the box offices and smashed MANY, many records when it came to blockbuster. I don't think Luthor will be the villain, let alone even be in the movie. And when we eventually DO see Luthor, he won't be the real- estate criminal, he'll be the mad scientists Luthor.

Norlan and Bale made that remake worthwhile. One out of 100 other fails in hollywood. That last Supershit movei just sucked ass so badly. I was imprisoned on a plane for 16 hrs and STILL couldn't make myself watch more than 25mins of it.

Yeah, lol... I was trying to find a decent picture of Cavill and he kinda looked different in every one of them. When I saw that one, I couldn't resist. Looks like the Lois & Clark suit to me, and I wonder if they morphed him with Dean Cain.
