YNGWIE MALMSTEEN on JIMMY FALLON Show TONIGHT!

Postby SunshineTwilight » Fri Feb 04, 2011 11:18 am

TONIGHT, Thursday, Feb. 3rd (12:35AM, ET/PT) guitar legend and classical metal master YNGWIE MALMSTEEN will sit in with the amazing house band, The Roots, on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."

Expect a mind-blowing display of virtuosity from Malmsteen, as he jams with The Roots on a variety of material and will be featured throughout the entire show.

I can't remember who said it, but I thought it was hilarious when someone pointed out he would use his middle initial sometimes too. Like he would get mistaken for some other Yngwie Malmsteen in the world

That was one of the guys in Spinal Tap during Ronnie James Dio's "Hear 'n' Aid" sessions.

Yngwie still got it! It was great seeing him shred with The Roots, classics like "Far Beyond The Sun" and "Black Star".
Never thought Id see Yngwie on the same stage as Ricky Martin though

Those guys were all pretty much in awe of Neal. Neal and George Lynch dominated during "We're Stars."

I think I remember George Lynch being very impressed with Neal because he thought that Neal was just some pussy-rock guitar player.

That entire special is on YouTube (I think in 3 parts), and is a really fun watch. Great outtakes with people screwing up in the studio.

Still an amazing guitarist...but someone should let him know that a man of his...uhh...added dimensions(?) shouldn't be wearing tight clothing...I mean he LOOKS like he ate Mark Boals!

Always liked Yngwie's playing, despite the fact that a lot of people "back in the day" thought he was a major technical show-off and not much else. Loved the "Trilogy" album, and reviewed it when it came out.

A friend and I met him after the show on that tour here in San Diego, and let's just say that he was a bit stand-offish.

My buddy (who thought he was a total prick to us), was less forgiving. Ever since then, he's referred to him as Yngwie Shitstain.

;^)

He's actually lost some weight but his face is still pretty chubby.

Yngwie is an amazing guitar player for sure, but his style gets extremely repetitive with enough listens, and I can't remember the last time I heard a fresh lick out of him. I can make new Yngwie solos up in my mind without any effort and I seriously doubt anyone would know the difference.

There are very few guitarists that aren't repetitive. I think it's more noticeable with him, though, since his style is so over the top.
