Watching movies on network television

Postby S2M » Sat Feb 12, 2011 7:47 am

I do not know why anyone would ever choose to do this. I'm trying to watch A Few Good Men...and there is a commercial literally every 5 minutes. If I wasn't already 2 hours invested I would just shut the thing off....

Why not get up during a commercial and just throw in the disc and continue from the same spot that you had gotten to so far on the broadcast?

Dork. After being annoyed at the first few commercials why didn't you shut it off and pull your own movie out and carry on.

The Superbowl was the first time I've watched commercials in about 3 years!! Everything is dvr'd, even if we watch it the day it's on. We just wait 20 min after it starts

Thanks S, I have that demo boot, LOL when it comes to Perry, Soto or Martin, there isn't much I don't have. Haha I'm not one of those half-assed music collectors, if it's one of my faves rare stuff, I'll find it. But thanks though, ok I take the "dork" back.

The other thing that sucks about movies on regular network TV is how much they cut out of films.

Lifetime, try that ...

Lifetime... that's funny. Around our house we call that the "dirty bastard channel", because so many of the movies are about men who are stupid, insensitive, cheaters, abusive or psychotic and the women they victimize or at least take for granted. Men are rarely portrayed in a positive light. Sound pretty realistic to me.

If you really want to see a movie the demonizes males, check out In the Company of Men, with Aaron Eckhart.

LOL or the tv show Californication. Couldn't stand David Duchovny in X Files, but he's not bad in this role, haha maybe more true to life. Kind of reminds me of that one character/doc on NipTuck. Saying that it's actually not a bad show.

What's even worse than the commercials are the channels that leave their logo or, even worse, some stupid advertisement in the corner of the screen. How distracting is that?

Adverts are the reason why I don't watch that many movies on networks. (Cable Networks included except for TCM. They don't have commercials.) And I watch any shows with episodes after some nice person uploads it somewhere sans adverts! :D
