I bet it's a re-tread title like Revelation was. I think there were 16 other albums that had already used that same name.

A little OT, but ...

Neal is sitting at home printing money. The dude is absolutely fucking loaded right now. Revelation put a few million in his pocket and he now owns everything Journey does from front to back. He owns Nomota, which gets paid by Walmart to manufacture the Journey albums. He produces it under the Neal Schon Production company and makes more money (more like not having to pay someone else). Nocturne goes out and does all of Journey's gigs and that of most other major artists. Then he makes about 15k per show when he's on the road. He also gets a whopping amount of money from each copy of the new album sold, royalties from the ever-selling GH and probably a little spare change from the Bad English days.

He's still sober and he's working with Herbie again. I would bet anything Herbie is the one that came up with the Neal Schon Productions idea. Herbie is stepping back in and is gonna show Neal how to make Journey that "brand name" that they were so close to achieving when Toastus Liquidatious stepped in and intentionally started tearing down what was already built. Herbie and Neal are gonna finish what they started 38 years ago. They're gonna have this machine firing on all cylinders really soon. And it'll be the first time worldwide.

It started out as Neal and Herbie's and it appears that it might end that way. Full circle. I like it.

The only thing Niel's band has been doing the past 15 years is basically the equivalent of peddling infomercial crap. Need some DeDe7, some Oxiclean? Now dude is peddling Shamwow's and tapped into another market.

Geeze Dan, I remember when we both felt the same way about Neil's band when they had Soto at the lead. Now they push little Arnel out front, strap together 14 cd's together for $10 and all the sudden they're world beaters again? I don't get it.

Agreed. That ship has long since sailed. The brief window of opportunity to salvage their artistic cred and rebuild their brand was after 86, by bringing back Rolie and getting Chalfant. Instead, it's been one misguided decision after another. Even after JSS was sent packing and Arnel was hired, the promotional blitz was all about Perry and his voice. How can the current lineup ever hope to leave a lasting legacy when they run from their Santana roots and parade themselves as little more than a Perry soundalike group? The band has become the worst sort of parody. That said, I have no doubt the new album will be great.

This band really needs to put out something great and win some accolades, perhaps a Grammy, if nothing more than just to shut everyone the fuck up.

I predict it will debut at #1 on Billboard's album chart. I will also predict that it won't outsell Arrival. With #1 albums only selling 47,000, This album only needs to debut with half of Revelatin's first week numbers to have a great shot. However it would need to maintain those numbers for at least 4 months to beat Arrival's total sales which it will be hard pressed to do with no additional pack in discs.

So I see a few accolades but if it doesn't sell well, the #1 ranking will be just a footnote, especially if Journey's Greatest Hits overtakes it on the album chart after a month or so.

Seriously, this album will be lucky to sell 75,000 in the U.S.

Plokker numbers will pad the totals, of course.

If there aren't any major releases that week, 75k guarantees it to be #1. Of course it will probably be labeled as one of the worse number albums ever by Rolling Stone but what else is new?

Will it be considered a succesful album if it only sells 200,000 copies? Eh, that will be up for debate I guess. Lest we forget, the Manila DVD debuted at #1 also but after more than a year still no platinum (or gold) like Journey's other DVD releases.

A little surprised they're hitting South America before the album is released. I guess Sony can be happy about that, as their catalog can benefit from it if nothing else.

As of right now, the band id off from April 16th to June 4th. I'm hoping they use this time to hit the promotional circuit in the U.S. Perhaps the long awaited late night talk show and/or another stint on Ellen or Oprah. Is Oprah even still on duing the day?

As for sales predictions, that's a tough one. Hard to say not knowing price, promotion and/or package. As a stand alone CD, priced around $7, I would say that sales in the U.S. would ultimately end up in the 300-400k range. With good promotion, a bonus CD and an attractive price, I could ultimately see them selling 400-700k. Regardless, this will almost certainly be another million selling unit worldwide, just like Revelation. They're really doing a lot of traveling this year. They already have 15 countries on their schedule, and that's not even counting the Asian leg. Seems like they're really focused on being that "world band" that Jonanthan mentioned. I like it.
