A true love story for Valentines day/ Sappy but true!

Postby artist4perry » Sun Feb 13, 2011 2:42 pm

A true love story:

I spend time at a coffee shop working on my art. Yes, I drag paper, pencils, and drawing board out to Starbucks and find a table and sit for hours working on my art.
I draw till my eyesight blurs, and my hand hurts.

...If you look at a small table over to my right, you will see a man. He wears a baseball cap, blue jeans, and an unpretentious shirt. He is either looking over baseball stats for his fantasy baseball league, or perusing a book.
He is very sweet........I should know, he is the love of my life. He supports my art, and never gripes about having to sit for hours at the coffee shop, but finds his own way of entertaining himself.

Love is the little things that we do for one another. Sometimes it is knowing someone believes in you, and shows it in their actions, much more than they can ever say in words. Maybe someday I will be famous for my art.........but I know deep in my heart, I am a great artist to this man, and he is my muse.

Beautiful Ginger. Love it and so true. I have to say, I knew I'd found a good one when for my 25th birthday instead of presents he adopted 25 acres of rainforest in my name. One for each year of my life and one of my favorite causes. I'm super sentimental anyway and that was probably the most meaningful symbolic thing anyone's ever done for me. It's the little things like that. Someone who shares all your ridiculous little quirks and vice versa.

Happy V-Day to you & your hubs!

Sigh. Beautiful way to put it, GingerGirl. I've never really been into Valentine's Day - too commercial, too much emphasis on 'did you get the right present' and 'how many cards did you get?' and way too much pressure to buy something flashy instead of something personal. Having my Dad die on Feb 13th hasn't made it any better. This is what it should be about - and it should be every day of the year.

I envy you every time I read one of these posts... except this time, I thought "I know exactly what she means". And I looked over at Ian, and grinned, and then remember I have to go home and leave him in 5 days time. :( But we found each other, and that's enough for now! :D
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Sounds good to me.........weirder things happen..........Dan and I met because someone was scratching his testicles coming out of a batting cage at college. I turned my head to avoid having to watch this gross spectacle and Dan looked down thinking I was checking him out, and he came down and sat beside me. 20+ years later........ :D

I hate Valentine's Day too, but will always have a special memory of it involving my mother. In 2005, sometime in the 2nd week of February, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was 19 weeks pregnant. The following week, on Valentine's Day, I had an ultrasound and found out I was having a girl. I then went and got a Valentine's Day card for my parents, and put in it a picture of my daughter from that ultrasound, with the caption "It's a girl!". I handed the card to my mother to open, and it was amazing to see the despair on her face from what she was still in the brand new stages of facing, go from that to sheer happiness at the news I had just shared that way. She died 4 days before the following Valentine's Day. So yeah, not my fav "Hallmark Holiday" for obvious reasons, but I at least will always have that one memory.
