Why are you sounding like this is the first time you heard about this "concept" album idea. It has been discussed on these boards for what ............. about a year now.

LOL...Neal talked about doing a concept album as a follow up to Arrival.

At the rate albums are selling for anyone these days, this one'll be lucky to go gold here in the U.S.

Yeah, it does have a good chance of debuting at #1 though. Depending on who else is releasing that week, 50K sold should do the trick.

Here's info from an interview with Neal, where he talks about the new album.

http://wncx.radio.com/2011/02/17/neal-s ... ney-album/
“The record, it’s been done for a while. It sounds amazing. I’m in love with the record, which I haven’t said for a long time. I was very involved with this record. Jon Cain and I wrote the whole thing with a little help from Arnel. You know, I really fought for this record to be the way it is. It’s a rock record.”

Sounds promising. :D

I'm sure the album will be good, but it's seriously the worst album title ever!

I didn't even make the Twilight connection until posters on this forum mentioned it. I thought we were rock fans, not twelve year old girls.

It's some vampire movie series from the US, everytime I turn on the television there is TV ad for it! it's everywhere! can't escape the shit... but seriously it would of been nice if Journey had an original album title for once.

I'm a completist. I'll buy it. But Revelation is just sitting in the same place it has been since the day after I purchased it....the only thing I don't own is The Ballade...

I can respect that, Sean. Revelation was done very poorly, production-wise. Additionally, it was a safe album and din't take too many chances. This album will be the opposite. I know it. They're gonna rock and rock hard, and don't care if there's commercial appeal. It's not going on the radio anyway, and it's geared more toward the hard rock crowd. That's why they're touring Europe, South America and Asia so extensively. If they wanted the general Revelation crowd, they'd play it safe. They're not. I expect edge and jam songs like La Raza Del Sol. Intensity. :)

This sounds awesome to me, it's just confusing how a few years ago it seemed that hard rock thing isn't what they wanted, and wanted only "legacy" sound. But if it truly is a hard rock album, and a good one, I know I'll like it  Just wonder what the "legacy" lovers will think, lol.

The legacy sound is the soaring tenor that they need to make the music they're really great at creating all come together. The music will be their core sound, just harder, more intense and for the first time since 1983, they'll have a great voice and musical independence to create what they want. And I expect a home run. :)

I liked them up to, and including Arrival..but they sold their souls on Red13, Generations, and Revelation. They are not my favorite band - not even close. They are not the most talented band - again, not even close. They hold a place in my library because they've put out some great anthems. I mean I could have been closed minded and not have bought anything after TBF...

Absolutely...I even like ONE song off Revelation - Like a Sunshower....and that's probably the song that most people dislike the most from it.

Brad Paisley and Seether have new releases that same day. Still, a very good chance for Journey's second number one. I'll have to track down more of the competition.

The band should go and buy about 25,000 copies themselves and just use them to sell in South America and Europe. If I was managing Journey that fucker would be #1 that week. But would that be legal WikiDon? I'm assuming that might violate their deal(s) with various distributors in those particular areas.

Never cared for Revelation - Arrival was a much better album, and had a way fresher sound. Throw that zombie on the bass out, get someone who can lay down a mean ass groove, tell Deen to play better, limit the songs to 8-10 and get hire someone who can write some good songs.
