What I found interesting was when he mentioned they got a new singer (Augeri) and that he was backstage at a gig of theirs when Journey were in the Tennessee area and he told me he saw them setting up "tapes, or tracks" setting up to Steve Perry's voice in their sound-checks. I found that part interesting. Obviously, it wasn't Steve Perry but my uncle saw the early-days of the "Tape-Gate" era without even knowing it. I gave him some story on Tape Gate and he wasn't the least surprised judging by what he heard and saw. (He has some cool stories on such artists as Pink all the way to Kim Kardashian!)
Anyway, a little bit of background on my Uncle Don and his music if interested:
My uncle through marriage (married to my dads younger sister) hit the pop country scene in very early 90's and landed a Sony deal to promote his first Album "No Sir" in about 1992.
That album gained him a pretty good following and himself and his brother caught a break and were making one helluva livin' in Nashville, touring around for about 10 years until it came to the bottom of his fan foundation. Here, his brother was stealing off of the foundation while my uncle and my aunt suffered to pay bills, cars and house's where they should of been living comfortably while his brother lived a good life with nice shined up vehicles, homes and had a crazy night scene.
He parted ways with Daryl and they haven't been on speaking terms since. His brother is out of the music business but my Uncle stayed in Tennessee to pursue his dreams. Things got tough and things got so bad that my Aunt had to come live back home for about 4 years while Uncle Don busted his ass to catch a break.
It all worked out and he is now in a new band touring, called Savannah Jack and works out in Tennessee and one of their songs were picked to be sung on a Finale of one of the seasons on "American Idol" but he lost out but it was a great pay-day nonetheless.
His new stuff is awesome with Savannah Jack and he's doing VERY well in Tennessee and is traveling a great deal.
I understand you either like pop/country or hate it but give a listen regardless. Here's his breakthrough in the early 90's and one of his songs he wrote for my Aunt Lisa.
