Not too bad. Accepting he doesn't sing like he did in 2001-2002 anymore. The audience noise isn't as loud so you hear him a bit better.

Better audio version of DSB. Sounds pretty good.

Very true, and they were certainly singing along for all the videos that are YT. And he looks to be having a great time as well. Good to see.

I live in Rio de Janeiro, but Sao Paulo have the greatest rock and roll audience in Latin America. I'm sure JRNY will have an unforgettable experience there!!

DSB was solid, as was SIL. Ask The Lonely and Separate Ways were pretty bad. He should add Kiss Me Softly and Remember Me. He needs to sing more of his songs to preserve what's left of his voice.

The POINT is ...noone outside of the filipino fan base is buying tickets to hear him sing anything outside of Journey!! Unless he's opening for Charice (sp) and I believe every photo I saw of those shows consisted, again, of the filipino
community. We will certainly find out in a couple of years, though!!

I seriously doubt the FLOPSM tour did better numbers than even Journey's Vacation's Over tour (the smallest/least publicized/theater tour), that's the only one to really judge by...as for band members solo shows, Neal didn't play Journey songs (except for one you Perryheads don't know anyway) ;-)

Christ, MG, The Neal Schon Band was together all of a few weeks. Did you expect them to be playing Madison Square Garden?  Besides, here's what history says about Schon and Cain without Nostrildamus:

Biography:

Following Journey's temporary breakup in 1987, guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain teamed up with Cain's former bandmates in the Babys -- vocalist John Waite and bassist Ricky Phillips -- to form Bad English. Drummer Deen Castronovo, who would later join Journey in the late '90s, completed the lineup. One of the last supergroups of the decade, Bad English made power ballads like there was no tomorrow -- and they did it better than most, due in part to Waite's strong vocals and Schon's creation of the power ballad prototype during his years with Journey. As the '80s gave way to the '90s, the group scored two huge hit singles -- "When I See You Smile" and "Price of Love" -...

Looks like all that was keeping them from garnering a #1 song was their ex-singer. They got one instantly with John Waite.

This is great...but hardly a solo effort!! John Waite knocked Tina Turner out of the #1
spot on his own in 84, he was a hitmaker ... guess they had to find more coattails ... ahhhhaaaaaahaaaa!!

The lyrics to that song were irrelevant (and not all that special). It was the arrangement, vocals and musicianship. Now if she had a hand in playing the instruments and/or the arrangement, I stand corrected.

I don't buy that. If it was such great musicianship, why is Neal so loathe to play it again?

I don't think Neal likes playing any ballads. Girl can't Help It and I'll Be Alright Without You, songs he put his own guitar parts on, aren't real high on his list of songs to play. They have to play Faithfully and Open Arms, but I doubt he likes them all that much either. Though I did like him beefing up Open Arms last tour. Probably figures if he has to play it, might as well throw himself a bone and re-invent the tune a little bit.

I could go with him reinventing some of the older songs, but as we saw, all he really did on the last tour was incorporate some HSAS and older material into it. Granted, not many people are going to notice that but the way the guy churns out solo stuff, I would hope anything introduced to the classics would be new also, not just re-arranged hand me downs.

Who knows though, maybe this time we'll get some of Maharaji's extended intros and outros on the dirty dozen.
They can probably can add some new accesseries to the wardrobe department too.

Agreed, tho I thought SW was also ok (new link below). I am impressed he sang so much of the dozen.

Well...kudos to SA for going out there in front of people and laying it on the line. And he's not a spring chicken at 52.
I must say, though, that the club atmosphere and audience singing along to all the songs "helped" him a lot...haha.

For anyone who may be interested, if you go to Steve's FB page a video with short interview [Ask the Lonely mixed in] and probably the clearest video of Seperate Ways from the Brazil concert last week.

Of for fucks sake....give me a break. Diane Warren gave them that #1 song....Schon, Cain, Waite or Perry, eve, never wrote it. And price of love was a quick release to ride the wave put in motion by Diane Warren's song.

Want to know just how much Neal and Cain felt about the fucking song? Look no further than the 2001 arrival tour, with John Waite opening up in front of Frampton and Journey. On that tour, Nick Schlong came out to play with Waite....not for his version of When I see you smile, but an old Baby's song. Why the fuck would Neal agree to play with Waite but refuse to come out on a song he fucking played on?

Cain never even came out....but afaik, Cain still hates Waite's guts.....I guess sometimes, members of Journey are just as much an impediment to reunions than ex-members, eh?

Yeah, because lyrics without music are what it takes to make a #1 song.  And you're acting like Dianne Warren is the Goddess of #1 songs and can merely dole them out like a blackjack dealer. Get a grip, dude. Schon and Cain have always had a penchant for being able to construct power ballads with the greatest of ease. But I'm glad you're giving Dianne Warren credit. And I suppose Steve Perry's FTLOSM was so terrible and flopped because none of the 62 writers on the album were named ... drum roll please ... Dianne Warren.

Sounds like some nitwit on wikipedia with a Bad English dildo up their anal cavity writing this shit. As I remember "history" (and at 40 years old, the 80's are quite vivid to me), Bad English had one hit. I never even heard of the second song mentioned. Also, as was already mentioned in this thread, Waite wasn't an obscure singer on the U.S. pop charts, considering his song "Missing You" ranked higher on the charts than any Journey song in history! I promise you that the song "When I See You Smile", which was every bit as fucking fruity as that abortion "Open Arms" had nothing to do with your boy Schon. Hell, that fucker was probably off marrying some chick while the song was being recorded. Although it was many years ago, I don't recall any serious guitar riffs on that cheeseball song!

Aside from the cheeseball ballad, both BE albums had some great guitar work on there and some seriously big anthems. Two classics.
