New "Old" Journey Concert Up on Wolfgang's Vault

Postby StElmoQn » Wed Feb 23, 2011 3:18 am

New Release: Journey & Friends
Listen to this incredibly rare (and rumored to be lost) live in-studio recording of Journey in 1979. Billed as SuperJam 2, Journey brings their buddies from other Bay Area bands like the Doobie Brothers, Stoneground, and the entire Tower of Power horn section into the studio to help track this incredible session that sees the band on the brink of superstardom. We are pleased to debut this recording in its entirety for the first time anywhere.

A remastered version of stuff like this would be HUGE! Glad the Vault added this.

listening now... there's a friggin horn section in "Born Under a Bad Sign"...... Tower of Power?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Cool. I've said before that if Journey wanted to reinvent itself they could add a horn section....and a woman. Put some eye candy out front! :D

I ripped "Let The Good Times Roll"... and ran it through Logic Pro with some sweetening using Izotope Ozone...

IMHO this is Perry singing at his finest... he really shined when he sang R&B... and this song just plain swings....

I think they've got it wrong. I just checked my collection, and the King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcasted as Super Jam II from S.F. with Journey & Friends was actually performed on Nov 15, 1978. Here is the setlist:

1. Feeling That Way
2. Anytime
3. Road Runner
4. Love Hurts
5. Hold On
6. People Get Ready
7. Show Me
8. Crossroads
9. Born under a bad sign
10. Good times
11. Lights
12. WITS

Yes, SP singing the soul/gospel songs (Love Hurts, People Get Ready...with help from other soul artists) just goose-bump inducing...takes your breadth away.

I've had the reels of this since the time the box set was released...where they acted like the concert was lost and nobody would ever hear anything by "Good Times".

If they REALLY wanted to give the fans a treat, they would look to release this on CD...Or, at least allow KBFH to do it.

I have had this for some time. I have it on my ipod. Think I got it on AA. Perry is great on this... And Rollie is wonderful! Absolutely love Born under a bad sign!
