I see that point of view. And I don't think this will do as well as Journey-Heart-CheapTrick. But for me, I get probably, what, 5 hours of songs I like.

You folks have to understand something. You need to separate the talent from the artist's ability to draw. Heart and Cheap Trick are incredible bands live, but they do not draw ... anyone. Both frequently play fests where the concerts are free with paid admission. Journey now has Foreigner ... a bona fide #2 act that will draw more fans than Heart and Cheap Trick combined. While I was really hoping for Europe and the Scorpions, this bill is going to draw and draw very well. I'd look for much of the same as the initial leg of the Revelation tour ... lots of sellouts.

I'd love to see that also. The problem is they lose their audience if they do that, and will be on Survivor level for drawing crowds if they try that for very long.
I still think Journey should do what some other bands have done and try a hardcore fan show at a smaller theatre. The UK rock band Thunder used to do a Christmas show where the majority of the hits were thrown out the window and they mainly played the rare material and some choice covers. Sometimes it was acoustic, sometimes electric, sometimes a combo of both. It's a way to pacify the diehards who want something other than the dirty dozen, while not losing the casual fan that allows you to play bigger venues.

Probably the same as the CT, Heart, Journey bill ... 45 minutes, an hour and an hour and a half.

And the fact that they need TWO bands to help with the gate, is telling in itself....

S2M wrote:Ok...I'll buy that. But that begs the question....Why release new music at all? It has been shown that bands can tour for years without a new release. It has also been said that bands make their money with touring. The money made from albums is neglegible, no?
And you just admitted that they would lose fans if they played more newer songs. Again, so why release a new album then? That, to me, screams that fans couldn't care less about the new songs. But then you could say that there are two distinct camps of fans(other than the Sp/Jss/Arnel fractions): the ones that buy the albums, and the ones that make the concert rounds. They don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive, but I think they are.

Why record songs that will never be played in concert?
