"Well, it’s very guitar driven. This album has very little of me, keyboard wise. Neal wanted to do a heavier rock album. So, this is kind of his baby. I wrote the lyrics on the thing and lots of the melodies that sit above the guitars. So, then I had to find someplace to play in the nooks and crannies.” He says, chuckling.

“It’s a very hard hitting record that has some conscience to it. It’s about lots of things – spirituality, sexuality. There’s a song called Tantra on it about tantric circles. I was fascinated with all of that. It’s definitely a departure from what we’ve done before. It’s more like a concept record. I think Arnel shines. He sounds great. It’s probably one of Neal’s best guitar albums. I think he’s on a mission on this album – to play and he did.”

I hope this is the case, might actually get this one if it's a little more Schon and a little less Cain. My favorite band doesn't even have keyboards........I would like to hear a more hard rockin' Journey. :)

Sad when people hang around a message board for a band they don't like. Pathetic when they choose to post in a positive thread just to rain on people's enthusiasm over a new tour and album.

Go fuck yourself.

If it's just about playing what the majority want, all Journey has to do is look at the uploads on Youtube over the last three years since Revelation came out, along with how many requests they have gotten for licensing anything newer than 1998 and there's your setlist.

Case in point: Revelation
The last 36 months of youtube uploads for songs contained on Disc 2 outnumber songs off of disc 1 by about five to one. People want nostalgia. Sad, but it's just the way it is.

This is a good sign. When the band is working these are the kinds of posts we get.

Just be thankful they are - for whatever reason. Sme other fans remain frustrated their artists aren't recording nearly enough (Styx for example).

I don't know...I've seen Foreigner twice with Lou Gramm. The band's live show just seemed to be lacking something and probably because their sound is just too thin without a second guitarist. Never been a big fan of Mick's guitar playing, though they are on of my favorite bands.

What can Journey fans expect from the shows on this tour?

“Well, since we’ll have a new album out we’ll be hitting a couple of new songs. We’ll bring some new music to the stage. We’ll play the hits.

Duh...My problem here is with the two words in bold. Really? Just a couple?

We have a new sound engineer that we’re excited about – we’re bringing him out. He’s from Nashville.

I hope this means that Neal's tone won't be that overly process crappy tone he's had over the past few years but I'm not optimistic about that.

I'm mildly optimistic about this statement but I hope this doesn't mean crap like "All the Things" or "Wildest Dream".

I thought Wildest Dream was a great song, and especially in concert.

I don't care for it but it's light years better than that crapfest "All the Things". Ugh...One of the worst Journey songs ever, in my opinion.

But I know I'll still see them. Especially if there is a "gathering" involved.

I've only seen Night Ranger once and it was a long time ago. They were great. Never seen Kelly-fronted Foreigner. I'm very excited about this bill, and I don't even know how I'll like Arnel. I'm definitely catching a show or three on this tour. Book it.

Fuck yeah.

NR is one of the best live bands in the world, even without Watson. Flawless and on fire.
