While Sean ignored bands like Eyes and Talisman back then , melodic rock was pretty much all I listened to ;)

Wrong, not every single one of them did  I didn't say everyone in here, lol.
And that's awesome you got to be over there during that time, it's not any secret m.r. has always been bigger over there, and probably always will be. That was all I listened to then too.

I didn't need to know every single MR band in that specific time era to know that Talisman and Europe are both very good MR bands. And that the new Europe is not a sad attempt of any kind. That was my argument here, nothing else!

Man now I know how S2M feels, words get read wrong obviously  All I was telling him is that trying to convince people who like bands like Europe and Talisman, etc., that there were other bands from that time just as good is impossible. And I'm right about that

I don't think anyone denies there were other bands as good. The argument was him not able to see these two bands are in the same class or better. :)

Agreed, just not SFTD.....horrible effort! LMAO

Nah, I like that album better than Secret Society by a long shot!

Me too, but I do love Secret Society. Just not quite as much. And I am really, really disappointed that any plans for Europe to tour with Journey this year didn't come to fruition.

Me too :( lol. And the other one that was a possibility, that would have been awesome, that didn't come through either. But will still be a good time!

When I heard about Journey's photo shoot in the desert a few days ago, I figure that must have fulfilled the Scorpions rumor. Hope nobody got stung by one! I'm afraid I'm actually going to have to take a trip to Europe to see Europe. Which is fine by me. :)

Yes you are. Some great bands in the early 90s before grunge came in. Ahem, MB. :D

There were other great bands of course. What he said/meant was there's other bands that were/are good , but Talisman sucks ;)
He likes to get under peoples skin but I know him too well to let that bother me. He thinks having gizzilon song on hard drives = music knowledge = great taste in music. He's dead wrong ;)

True, but I see the other side of that argument too. Yes Europe and Talisman are awesome bands, I love them both, but as he isn't able to see them as he sees other bands, there are people who do the same thing he does and don't see other bands as they do those two bands. Confusing point maybe now  but that was it, lol.

My argument had nothing to do with MR music or comparisons or anything. I just don't get why he thinks a band can't change it's sound and be relevant or good. All bands change their sounds. No one sounds the same on their first album, as they do on their newest. NO BAND does. I never argued anything about main stream vs underground music at all.

I agree he's dead wrong about Talisman  And I won't argue about how much someone has or taste because people can think what I like sucks and I don't care  but he and some others around here DO have quite a bit of knowledge about m.r. bands.

Yeah Scorpions would have been great too, and there was another that seemed like a possibility that I would have loved also!

Wish Europe would tour here somehow, they haven't been here since 2004 I think?

Yeah I know that, that wasn't my point either, lol. I was only saying I understand that era that was mentioned, and that trying to convince people there were great bands and music in that era is pointless. I never said a thing about bands changing to be relevant. Apparently we're all just confusing arguments, lol.

Well there aren't many people around here who did follow those lesser known groups in that era back then, that was all I was saying, is trying to convince people about those lesser known bands and their music just won't work.

To say that you lived in EUROPE, but know nothing of these MR bands is telling. To say Gotthard has no hooks is ludicrous....I know you said that because I said that about Talisman, but still....

1990, the year Talisman's self-titled released, these are the other groups that had albums that year ....how many did you know at that time?

Beggars & Thieves
Blonz
21 Guns
Baton Rouge
Big House
Cold Sweat
D'Molls
Friction
Guardian
Heaven's Edge
Hericane Alice

House of Lords
Hurricane
In n' Out
Julliet
Paul Laine
Little Caesar
Pretty Maids
Sleeze Beez
Sweet F.A.
Valentine
Wildside

I remember when they had to change that spelling because of Hurricane, lol. And always found the F.A. in Sweet F.A.'s name hilarious

When and where did I say what MR Bands I DON'T know about ?! :?

Funny thing is IF you were that much into melodic rock back then , you WOULD HAVE heard of talisman. You're into most of the bands above now cause of internet and downloading that allows you to find all these bands. I bet you during 89-95 you didn't know half of these bands. ;)
Also half of the bands you mentioned above are average at best .

Gotthard doesnt really have much of melodic riffs. They're an ok band.

Save your links. Gotthard is an average rock band. Nothing more , nothing less. You're biased ;)

Gay bars that attracted a lot of vaginas then  because I remember being able to see a few shows once I got back here from Japan in '91, and there were tons of women seeing these bands, lol. And no it wasn't just the guys who looked like women

Gay bars have both gay men and lesbians there , hence the vaginas , yet not the main reason Sean went there. He went there for, ahem the music ;) :)

I know YOU listened to a lot of good bands back then , no doubt. But you don't put bunch of other bands down just cause you knew about aide hidden gems that most don't know about.
Sean on the other hand just plays the same game he's playing in sports/politics/Journey threads,,, A whiny devils advocate ;)
