Well, after MANY delays... here is the brand new song!!! :D This is about a minute and a half clip, and it's still a pretty rough mix. We really hope you like it! You can either check it out on our myspace page at www.myspace.com/jimrykbost

OR, you can download it here...

I like it, Jim. Sounds like it has a lot of potential. You said it's rough...what else are you planning to do with it?

Will be looking forward to hearing a final mix.

Thank you! We've still got some guitars to get done, and I just recorded all of the backing vocals for the first chorus (in about 20 minutes tonight) so that we could get the song posted. It's still just a demo. We've discussed it, and I think we're going to have Lars (a guy who owns a studio there in Italy) do the mixing and mastering on all of our songs for the album. He's done a great job on the studio drum tracks so far, and I think he will do a great job on the final songs as well. We're still trying to work that out. Guess we'll know more this week.

Nice, Jim. I love the opening chords and the atmospheric boards. Fatten up those BG vocals in the chorus and you've got a winner!

A wiener?  Thanks Matt! Yeah, this was a very fast mix. It also needs more guitars. Alex and I have been having some technical difficulties over the last few days... internet providers down, and tonight, the disc drive on my digital recorder took a crap. :? I worked around it, but the quality suffered on the song. I'll have to replace it.

I'm not sure what we're going to do with this song now... do we add it to the album? Is it strong enough to put on Andrew's next MRCD? I don't know. We'd have to track real drums on it for it to be added to our album, and I don't know if we want to (or CAN) do that at this point. Any thoughts?

Jim... what are you recording on.. Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper... ?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Nice Kansas/Lec Zorn vibe you have going on in this song. Make sure it starts to rock out more in the verse after the 1st chorus (so no half time), would be my only advise. The singer sounds real good in the low register.

The verse sounds great, but to my ears it needs an injection of energy in the chorus.

Thanks for the compliments and the advice guys! Will definitely take into consideration. And Michael, there are heavier guitars in the second verse that I think you'll like. They just weren't on this version.

On this song, the bass, clean guitars and keys were sequenced in my Yamaha Motif XS8 and dumped down on my Korg D16XD digital recorder. I then sent those to Alex who uses Pro tools. He programmed the drums and recorded the distorted guitars and lead vocals. He sent it back to me and I uploaded it into my digital recorder again and added all of the backing vocals.

I do have Logic Pro 9, but haven't used it for anything other than the actual studio album songs. It's got a pretty steep learning curve, so for this demo, I just used what was easier. Thanks for asking.

Cool, but I was mainly referring to the drums.

Thanks very much Ginger! You too MG and Rick. :D I appreciate it, and I'm glad you like it. We're slowly working on all of the rest of the songs now, and Alex and I are re-recording all of the guitars and keys. We won't stop until it's right. We have a LOT of work to do, and Alex has already started on it. I talked to him yesterday, and he had re-recorded the clean guitars on most of the songs, and was getting ready to start on the distorted guitars.

We'll keep you posted, and thanks for your support!
