Lady Gaga strikes again

Postby Don » Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:38 am

I think my prediction of Journey having a great chance of capturing their second #1 album on Billboard might have hit a slight snag, Gaga's new album debuts the same week on May 23.
I thought the field was clear for 50k in sales to be enough to top the chart. Maybe Journey can bump up the release one week.

Gaga will release this and release that, but in the end, the world will tire of her and she will fade out as quickly as she came to be. (I still predict a trainwreck in the near future)

The problem is, this particular release is the day before Journey's and will probably dominate the charts and the media that week. Since the Eclipse album is already in the can, why not release it a week earlier to get a good chance at topping the charts or at least get noticed on Billboard's front page?

A bit like Frontiers getting frozen out of the top spot by Thriller.

You know, a lot of people said that about Madonna back in the day, and she's still around.

I doubt it. I don't think she will have the longevity of Madonna, but she writes her own music and is driven (she's been touring for almost three years straight now and is still touring) and really cultivates her relationship with her fans. That fanbase will carry her a long way if she keeps evolving musically and keeps putting out catchy songs, which she seems to have a knack for.

Whether you want to face it or not, she DOES have musical talent. She's WEIRD, I'll give you that. And goes a bit over the top trying to get attention, like I've said before, like many of the 80's artists. But she DOES have musical talent whether people want to see it or not.

Here is a piano/keyboard version of Paparazzi. I am impressed with her playing:

IMO I think Lady GaGa has a way better, stronger singing voice than Madonna. These video's really show that. I think people don't appreciate just how talented she is because of all the weird stuff is so distracting and turns some people off. Plus the arrangements covers up her voice. It's hard to really hear her voice because of all the electronics and multilayering.

She has a far stronger voice than Madonna. Many of Gaga's songs are campier pop, but they make her stand out. She has her own signature style compared to all the other pop acts that sound the same. And teens love her because she's different.

But Madonna has a lovely tone to her voice, though, in ballads. You'll See live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohVzRE8P8gs

That's the only thing I'm waiting for Gaga to do, are ballads. She's lacking in that area. The few ballads she has done are more cabaret type ballads that don't move me emotionally. Madonna's ballads are some of my favorites of all time by a woman. But Gaga is only just now releasing her third album, so it will be interesting to see how she evolves musically as she matures, because she is a creative person and won't stay stagnant, repeating herself.

And this is done on purpose....like Britney Spears in concert. She is campy, and I bet has a large homosexual following. BTW, I haven't heard ONE thing about Adam Lambert in literally MONTHS....

Britney Spears lip-syncs. The girl hasn't sung live in years and she still packs in her pop fans at her last concert that have followed her since their teens. I guess they're rooting for her since her breakdown.

But the Queen did camp first when it suited her, and no one tops her better when she does it. Madonna's 1990 Blond Ambition tour was iconic and the holy grail of Pop concerts, but her Erotica period 1993 The Girlie Show tour was fun and very naughty.

Fever - live on the Girlie Tour - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pMWg4UcYHo -- I'm sure there were no straight men in the audience on that tour - LOL

Missing him, are you? Since you asked, I believe he's busy promoting his live CD/DVD & working on a new album for 2011 - he did tour for almost an entire year. Oh - and I think he has a new boyfriend  .
Don't worry, he'll be back.

Gotta disagree with this. Gaga can definitely sing, and it's easy to find proof of it. She has all the electronic stuff in concert in a lot of her songs because that's how they are on the album.
Unfortunately, IMO, that's how pop/dance music is today....auto-tuned, and otherwise electronically altered. Some of the singers that do this do it because they can't really sing, but in Gaga's case, she just does it I guess because it fits the song and is just another tool to use to make hits.
In any case, she is certainly far beyond a Britney Spears in singing ability, not that that is anything tough to do. Not sure who is weirder, though.......I'd have to give it to Britney, I think. Brit is just an idiot former child star....and I think Gaga is much more talented and is simply doing all this on purpose, kind of calculated-like.

I am moving Journey down from a possible debut at #2 to #3. That keeps them ahead of the Brad Paisley and Seether debuts that week but behind Lady Gaga and Lil' Wayne, whom I just heard has a release coming out on May 24th also.

That was surprising - she is really weird, manufactured, and has issues (I think that makes her the rule and not the exception in the entertainment industry  ), but at least Lady GaGa has true musical talent. She can actually sing well and has classical piano training. Madonna has an ear for pop hooks, but her vocals are very average and she barely learned to play the guitar only recently. Unfortunately a lot of Gaga's lyrics are just too rude and her videos are messed up, so I have no interest in them.

I'm not surprised that Madonna does not let her own children watch TV with the stuff kids are exposed to, but it's funny since it was music videos and being controversial for the time that launched her! At the beginning of her career, when she rolled around on the stage for some music awards show dressed in a vampy bridal outfit singing 'Like A Virgin', everyone thought she was nuts too.

Gaga is very
talented, her stage presence/shock factor is a bit  ...but it draws the attention that, perhaps, she may not
have gotten otherwise ...to launch?!?! Before Madonna, whom I could not stand in the Like a Virgin days, mostly due to
her very average vox and her act was just weird ...we had Cyndi, who could hit it out of the ballpark. She was out there
for the day/time, but so lovable!!
