I found out that Robin Trower is going to be performing in Milwaukee soon. I hadn't listened to any of his music for a long time so I stated watching some of his videos on Youtube. He had an awesome power trio back in the day.

I've always been a sucker for british blues. It's what I grew up listening to. While Rory Gallagher was irish, he was a great bluesman and guitarist.

My first ever rock concert was a triple-bill featuring Rory Gallagher, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and Uriah Heep...February 1974, San Diego Sports Arena.

Tickets: six bucks.

Them were the days alright...

These guys were great. I would add Ronnie Montrose, Johnny Winter, Frank Marino, and Tommy Bolin, to that list. It is a shame these guys were/are forgotten by so many.

I lot of people have never heard of Roy Buchanan, but he was incredibly talented, and influenced many more famous guitar players including Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Billy Gibbons & Robbie Robertson. If you've never listened to him play do yourself a favor and check him out.

I saw Robin at the HOB here in the summer of 2009. Great show! You'd think after what has to be many thousands of shows he's done, he would just be going through the motions. WRONG! He still REALLY gets into his playing. As I recall, the singer was good, bass and drums just ok, but really, you're there to see Trower. My kind of show. Singer sings a verse, Robin plays 5 minutes, another verse, 10 minutes. And so it went. As far as I was concerned, it was just right!

Yeah I still get sticker shock every time I buy a concert ticket. I remember seeing the Allman Brothers in 1969 (when Duane Allman was still alive) for $2.50! Santana with Greg Rollie less than $4.50, Pink Floyd & Led Zeppelin $6.50. I couldn't afford to go and see all those shows at today's prices.
