No. They're trying to raise $50,000 in donations so they can finish it. Nobody with any money or business sense is going to invest in this at
this point in the game. We are way past this thing's prime. The story has been told already in a thousand ways. If this film ever really
made sense to make don't you think the band or even Azoff himself would have funded it?

Ya, that's chump change to them, wonder why they didn't "Buy it out" to at lease finish it... the footage looks good, like it was done well - Story's been told in interviews, and segments, but not following AP around for a year or two, behind the scene shots of the band, rehearsal, back Stage, Bus, living on the road.

You'd think it would be a cool thing for the band to have.

I find it odd that the band or management is not supporting this film....or at least it doesn't appear that way if they're asking the fans for more money in the form of donations. :?

Doesn't surprise me it doesn't seem supported by the band, at least 2/4 of it wouldn't want their singer being larger than life, or them.

Cain shies away from any sort of recognition and seems content to lie in the weeds. I think he's just timid. And Neal has touted Arnel since day 1 and thrust him into the spotlight ... even going so far as calling him "the new king." Neal now ducks out after shows and doen't even stick around for meet and greets. Kinda seems to be the actions of a guy that just wants to tour and play. Neal does all of his talking on stage. :)

My guess is that Nostrildamus held on signing off on that movie long enough for the buzz to subside. Also, I know they were hoping someone would pick up the film and try to independently release it. My guess is that that didn't happen and now they're sort of wondering how to incorporate it ... if at all. I think they'd like to make it a bonus DVD with the new album, but then Nostrildamus gets a cut and I know they don't want that. My guess is that it'll pop up on their site in a few months and be sold exclusively on there. Now if they were smart, they would put it next to Eclipse in Wal Mart on May 24th and try to move it that way.

I didn't know SP (you know that name still makes me laugh every time  ) had to give an ok for that. Yeah it seems a couple years too late now, but a DVD with the CD would be good, or like you said separately alongside the new album.

Maybe they can put some over-sized coffee cans on each end of the stage at their gigs. Then when the band comes out on stage they can have Arnel climb out of a cardboard box and push around a shopping cart on stage all night.

Maybe Neil can hang a sandwich board over Arnel explaining the band trying to raise money to finish the flick.

Just a couple of ideas for Neil...hope everything works out. :D

I think if they include any song that he co-wrote that he must sign off on it. Hell, the title alone might give him that right. WikiDon, please clarify this issue for us. Thanks in advance.

Don't Stop Believin' is an adage/song that could be used to
describe anyone's life, struggles, goals, but when it pertains to
a member of this band it always seemed odd to me to use this
song that AP had nothing to do with. He didn't write it, he didn't
make it a success, he didn't have anything to do with it's current
popularity ...he just covers it ...it's a Cain, Schon,
Perry story ...

If he really wanted to get this story out there he could fund it himself!!
I'm not at all interested, but I'll bet there are many Pinoy fans who are.

I think the footage looks great and I feel bad that it appears some people worked very hard...I threw 'em a few bucks.

I wonder if this doesn't have something to do with it. From the Matt Carty interview with Herbie Herbert:

M: I’m going to take you the Behind the Music episode real quick. They really didn’t seem to fully credit you for the formation and the success of the band. What was your reaction to that?

H: I was surprised to be involved in the history at all. I mean, I can’t imagine – with Steve Perry having the editorial control that he had – what was said to keep me in there. I think this is your answer right here – because all the other guys signed agreements that were so onerous and egregious as to not can they not ever make a disparaging comment towards Steve Perry, but they are prohibited from writing autobiographies, authorizing biographies, participating in any way in a unauthorized biography.

The movie technically is not about Journey, but about AP. There seems to potentially be a lot of issues not only with with the music, but Journey as a band might have to distance themselves from direct support legally.

The producers have taken pains to say that this Documentary is an independent film.
I think by doing this, they are hoping to clear hurdles like licensing by saying it's simply fair usage (which I don't think is going to fly). They are also trying to get an Academy Award for a documentary (that's why they shortened the trailer, the longer trailer they originally did would disqualify them but it may be too late as that one has been on youtube for quite awhile). If the band takes on sponsorship of this film, then best Doc goes out the window and the band takes on a legal hurdles regarding usage like the Sony/BMG video we see in the trailer and maybe even stuff we may not know about, ie anything under NDA regarding them and past band members.

Really, the whole thing looks like it wasn't well thought out from the get go and like I said,I bet the licensing is something they are hoping to slip through with out paying.

50K needed to START the editing. Then what? Another 50k for final edit? Then another 50k to get this shoved out the door?

Arnel's story no longer needs to be told, it had already been hammered to death in the name of band promotion for the first two years of his tenure.

I think I posted something like this on his site but nobody has caught their breath yet, so no response as of yet. Folks get pretty starstruck over there
making them kind of blinded to the reality of things. There is really not any ROI to be had with this at this point in time. They should just release it as is to
the people who want to download it.
