"Well, that's just that - a rumor. But I can tell you he's still a key component of the decision-making part of the band. Nothing gets played or released without Steve Perry signing off on it. I'm not privy to the details of their arrangement, but I can tell you this: if Steve Perry wanted to be back singing with Journey, everybody would find a way to make that happen."

I don't think Kevin Shirley would have said what he did if there wasn't some truth to it and this interview was very recent during the Eclipse production. Not saying Jon and Neal don't have a huge say but their boss also happens to be in a company that owns the majority of venues the band plays in. You just don't tell someone like that no when they control half of the music arenas here and abroad.[/quote]

what nonsense, steve may have gotten some control over catalog, but no way does he tell them what to play

Shirley is obviously talking about the back catalog. Ask Neal about playing live at the World Series last year in S.F.

A big rumor is floating around that Steve Perry is looking to reunite with JOURNEY, Not sure where this came from but WLS in Chicago is a big station. I'm thinking of trying to call this guy and see if I can get where this came from.

I agree...but you have to admit that if it were true they would sell out in 5 minutes.

Maybe it bit more than 5. Journey sells fine without him, so him being back is not going to bring thousands of Perry fans that won't go see them currently.

Steve Perry will release a new solo album in the future. Unfortunately, it will be about 30 years from now.

I did find out some of the lyrics that will start one of those solo songs.

Here it goes.....

She was 70
a former beauty queen
I met her in a nursing home
has heartburn like fire
her breath smells like bile
wears Depends with so much style

I believe the song will be called "Not Enough Time left To Wait."

Do they really think 80 percent of the fans would really care if they're not playing Eclipse stuff?

Seeing as VH just trotted out a vocally shot DLR for a tour in 2007 after Sammy left the band and the tour STILL SOLD OUT, I think people can live with Perry singing down a step or two, especially as like Roth, he is the guy whose voice the fans have been listening to on the radio all these years.

Hey I`m with you on that thought but what we all should realise is that Steve Perry is no longer willing or able to share his talents with us...so just appreciate those who still share.

I have no doubt about Perry NOT rejoining the band. I'm just saying if he did, Lefsetz and other big time critics who been suggesting that Journey and him reconcile would make sure that the publicity was out there to ensure a sold out tour, whether the guy could sing or not. To a number of critics, while Arnel is a great vocalist, he has no identity beyond being another replacement singer filling in for Perry. Every time there's an interview about DSB and the origin of the song, that position just receives further enforcement. While the song has helped create a rejuvination for the Journey 'brand', from Arnel's position it has definitely not allowed any separation between current Journey and the man who's voice he has to emulate every night on tour.

I don't know when you Perry Bashers are going to learn!!
You all claim be so happy with the J~boyz Du Jour and should
be really excited about this new LP, which Andrew has made
sound very exciting ...nipples should be hard all around me,
but instead of just being happy you have to keep revisiting your
misery ...m~m~m!! :?

I still think that taking off last year involved major discussions on how to perpetuate this band. And I guarantee you it involved the new record, touring everywhere, AND doing a final Perry thing...or two.

What is a final Perry thing or two? Perry doing a thing or two might be going to a baseball game and stroking a cat. It seems like if Journey even so much
as farts Steve's money machine starts rolling. As soon as Journey gets 3 months into the tour there will probably be 3 million more sales of GH albums.

It would not surprise me one bit for Perry to finally admit that he STILL wants Journey back. And probably no doubt that Journey wants him back. So before they get too physically non-tour'able, the 'final Perry thing' will be a few reunion dates. And the current major tour could be all about hyping that.

Not happening. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that he can still sing and even less that he wants to, let alone wanting to rejoin Journey.

You're right. He probably can't sing like he used to. But I bet, that NS & Co still talks about it. And I'm sure that they ALL speculate about the big 'reunion' pay day. And like or not, call it a sellout, but that is exactly what will drive this band to 'perpetuate', and make their ultimate mark in the music biz.

If I had 8 months with Perry I guarantee he would be singing again. Confidence yoga running and singing would whip this bastard into shape. He would sing the songs at the right speed and the songs would sound great, Better than Augi and Pinny combined.
A tour like this would bring many millions add a Dennis STYX reuniting combo tour and you are talking 100 million easy.
Still do not know why the DJ from WLS blurted that out.
