That is a seriously good idea! I'd buy that in a heart beat.

I have to agree...they've added bonus tracks to all of the classic Journey reissues except for Captured for some reason. The above mentioned songs were all played during the Departure tour and were some of the best live performances during that tour. I'll never understand why they were cut from Captured. :?

You're absolutely right, jrnyjetster....those were some of the best live performances during that tour. The two reasons that I would guess why they weren't included are:

1. live albums weren't really money makers back in the day. They were more of a novelty. Except for Frampton Comes Alive and Kiss Alive, the live albums weren't bringing in the big bucks. Captured was already a double album, so I guess the line had to be drawn somewhere.

2. Although all of the Departured shows were recorded (my buddy was at the Philly show), most of the songs on that album were recorded in Detroit, Montreal and Japan. Perhaps the other songs weren't performed at their best on those nights?

Again, these are just my guesses.

Yes this would be great. More live music from that era would be cool. 8)

I would also love to see an "official" remastered live DVD from that tour, similar to what they did with the Live In Houston: Escape tour DVD. I know they have the footage in the vault from the many articles I've read. It has been said by Herbie himself that the final show of the Departure tour from Japan, October( ?)1980, was absolute killer! And as a fan, it would be an important piece of rock memorabilia to own, since this was Greg Rolie's final show with Journey.

Sony seems to be content with just keeping the Greatest Hits out there. I'm thinking they will eventually put together a blu- ray pack or digital video downloads from all of their promo video they have archived from the Perry era when they get around to hiring someone who is actually a Journey fan.
