Overall, I really like this album. The first few tracks really grab me. to me though, the second half of this album doesn't grab my attention nearly as much. In all fairness and honesty, I haven't let all of the tracks play through from beginning to end. Some of the songs had either a country twang that I didn't care for, or sounded a little too generic for me to really get into on the first flip-through.
One thing I learned on the "Good To Be Bad" album, was that some of those songs had to grow on me as well. I'm sure after I give this some real spins, I'll get into more of the songs.
So far, my top picks for the album are:
1. Steal Your Heart Away- Straight-up rocker that kicks you in the face!
2. All Out Of Luck- See above.
3. Love Will Set You Free- One of the strongest songs off of the album with strong, soaring melodies along with amazing guitar hooks.
4. Easier Said Than Done- Slower ballad that is a typical, soft, melodic Whitesnake ballad that's easy on the ears. DC is amazing on this song!
5. Forevermore- the title track, and to me, it's my favorite song of the entire album. VERY classic Whitesnake/bluesy sound. It's got some of the best acoustic guitars I can recall hearing in the last few years, and the vocals here find David at his absolute best on this album! This song reminds me of "Sailing Ships". but then it takes a left turn at the end with some amazing guitar solos and a cool middle eastern vibe going!!!
I really like this album, but so far, I think "Good To Be Bad" was a little stronger album overall. I think they could have cut a couple of these songs off of the album, and they wouldn't have been missed. Overall though, it's a strong album!
