Satriani. I couldn't pick Neal because he is an excellent guitarist that is wasting his talent being in journey. Much like Vivian is in Def Lep. Journey isn't known as a guitar band. Although, my favorite guitar solo is WCN.

Steve Morse and Steve Hackett are pretty much the best all-around guitarists in that list.

Iommi, Lifeson, Blackmore, Howe, Gilmour...all awesome, too. Can't pick just one.

This is Favorite list right? Seems like it's starting to become a "best" guitarist in my fucking own little world" list. The best is subjective to millions upon billions.

My favorite's and the reason's why.

1. Jimmy Page. Took the rock guitar, IMHO, to the next level with his playing style, especially onstage.

2. Ace Frehley. "The Spaceman" and what made me take the guitar seriously.

3. Steve Clark. He made Def Leppard. Stage-presence was undeniable live. Vivian Campbell, what have you done?

4. Edward Van Halen. "When I first heard "Running with the devil" and the album as an whole, I knew he would be king.

5. David Gilmour. Nothing like great "Stoner" guitar!
"Steve "The Riffmaster" Clark"

My generations "Jimmy Page"

I had to go with Kee Marcello, just based on Europe's "Out Of This World" album. The guitars and solos on the album are my favorite guitars of all-time! Other than that one album, I'd probably have to go with Steve Lukather. He and Schon are pretty close, but I give the nod to Steve because he's much more versatile.

I've been wishing for years that Neal and Luke would do something together- Toto meets Journey meets Hardline...

Kee totally owns that album with one great solo after another. Amazing how one of the most melodic rock albums with some of best solos, never got the publicity and attention it truly deserved.

Neal. I absolutely love his playing with Journey, and his solo albums are so diverse in sound and feel. I played Beyond the Thunder the other day, first time in a very long time, and was still blown away by it.

Shame that "Planet US", with Satch and Neal, didn't pan out. Would've been interesting hearing their styles contrast against each other. But then, we all know Neal isn't very good at sharing the spotlight.

Neal remains my fav. guitarist.
