Bingo. Nothing like him.

No offense, but I listen to ToTo, and I find nothing special. Same with Luke. Not exactly a guitar driven band. Maybe his solo stuff, but wow. I couldn't pick Porcaro or Lukather out in a song if my life depended on it....

Lukather is arguably a better guitar player than Neal, though I prefer Neal's tone. Now, if you can't hear the difference between Castronovo or Porcaro for example, then there's something wrong with you. Jeff Porcaro is unique.

A drummer who happens to be in your favorite band doesn't mean it has to be your favorite drummer. Or bassist, in the case of Ross. I think every rock bassist is better than Ross. But mark my words, he's someone's favorite JUST because he's in Journey....
That's something to think about you make a good point.S2M wrote:IMHO, and aren't you glad I freely give it all the time, I don't know how a drummer can be a favorite if the drums aren't a HEAVILY featured instrument in said band. Well the word "favorite" is a broad term. Something or someone can become a favorite for reasons other than talentS2M wrote:IMHO, and aren't you glad I freely give it all the time, I don't know how a drummer can be a favorite if the drums aren't a HEAVILY featured instrument in said band. I cant believe Im gonna agree with you on this one.No surprise here to see this Journey-influenced board picking Journey members as favorite musicans, but when you look at the big picture , theyre good as a BAND , but each and every one of the band members in Journey, as individual musicans, are average AT BEST !

I don't even mean just looks. It can be based on "entertainment" value too. Some are very entertaining, and could be a favorite. But still not on a top 10 list of best ever. Favorite doesn't have to be best. There shouldn't be a list with that question.S2M wrote:StevePerryHair wrote:Well the word "favorite" is a broad term. I disagree....when a list is presented, asking you to pick a favorite 'insert instrument here' - it implies musical talent. it's not asking for any other reason. Women tend to make choices based on looks/hotness. Or popularity.

I don't care HOW entertaining a musician is...if he/she isn't talented, he/she ain't gonna be a favorite. Example: David Bryan. Guy could be doing handstands on the keyboards while playing Runaway - and i'd just shake my head and laugh....![]()
