I'm really looking forward to these 2 and hope they get released this year, since it sounds like they are pretty much done. Maybe Neal will actually do something with his website and put some clips out there.
I know someone posted about this earlier, but I just hadn't seen the part about Jan Hammer.

Any of you know any details about the albums?
Is Hammer playing on the same album as Smith?
What style of music is supposed to be played on that album? Is it just one style, or a mix of styles?
Is the album that Deen is playing on going to be Metal?

Neal said he was looking to do a "power trio" between himself, Deen and Mendoza, so based on that, I have to believe Hammer is playing the Steve Smith album.
I also believe that Smitty's record is a progressive rock thing, because I read somewhere that Smitty got involved on the power trio album for two of the tracks that had a "progressive rock" sound. From that I'm inferring those sessions spawned a separate project which is now the Neal/Smitty record. Could be those two tracks have been ported over to the Smitty album.
Deen and Mendoza will be singing on their album with Neal. Don't know if Smitty's album will be all instrumental ala Eye on U or if there will be vocals. If there are vocals, I'd like to think Deen or Mendoza will be handling that.

If so, what's his voice like? Is he a good singer? Does he sound similar to any other singer/s that you can think of?

I shouldn't be responding to this, I know I'm starting something I don't want to be involved in, lol... but I can't help myself. I'm in one of those moods tonight.
So that said, I highly disagree. You're entitled to your opinion, but IMO, I don't think Anthony has a 10th of Mendoza's creativity. He's solid, but very very basic. No imagination. Deen has the same problem as a drummer (IMO). One trick pony (pounding). Pretty sure that's why Neal called in Smitty for the progressive tracks originally. Wasn't sounding right with Deen.
Illustrated example:
Go listen to the tail end of Friend's to Lovers on Soul Sirkus. Listen for Mendoza's bass riff on that section and then find me anything by Anthony that comes close to that kind of creative thinking. Hell, listen to his playing on the whole song. Doubt you can find something comparable by Anthony. Add to that Mendoza can REALLY sing well. Anthony hits high notes, and does a good job on backups, but Mendoza can sing lead if he wanted to. Saw him on Neal's solo tour. He sang lead on their cover of a Stevie Wonder song. Sounded better on that one track than their lead did on anything else the whole night.
