I'm surprised Youtube's automated content advisor software hasn't already blocked the audio on this link. Maybe Journey's intentionally leaking this for us U.S. users?

That software is supposed be pretty thorough. People have tried increasing /decreasing the tempo of the songs or starting the audio late to try and fool it but it usually zaps the content anyway.

Okay, enough with the euphoria of circumventing Azoff's retarded release scheme via the the magic of youtube downloader software.
As great as COH may sound sonically, this song seems a bit repetitive and ends up really going nowhere for me. We need Chain Of Love released dammit!

Why would you even need that outlet? Just wait til some Euro buys the single, and puts it on a P2P site, or a torrent. I found the song, but it sounds a bit muffled(compressed?).....

I agree, but I think it's a result of it being part of larger concept album. Sure, it's released as a single, but the approach probably makes sense in the context of the songs that frame it in the track listing. At least that's what I think might be the reason -- time will tell.

I liked this track from the first listen, but I have to admit, it grows on me more and more with each listen and I really love this song now. The production and performances are fantastic. Journey is poised to surprise everyone with this release. I like Neal's playing here a lot, and it is reminscent of something the Edge might do, but unique for Neal. Deen and Ross sound big and fat, and isn't Arnel great? Wow! I don't think he sounds like Perry, but, you have to admit that Journey now has a Journey caliber singer, and I think even if he isn't Perry, he's in Perry's league. Plus he seems to be very humble and nice guy with a great big heart. Go Arnel!

Agreed. I dig it, but the chorus is slighter than usual from Cain/Schon. Lyrically and musically, it's almost a sequel to FITH.

Is anyone savvy enough here to take the clip of the outro of this song on the MR front page and tack it on to the end of the radio edit?

It's on spotify for anyone who has an account.
Didn't like it at first. Seems to be growing on me now. My only problem is for me Neal seems to be playing the same solo a lot now. Same mode/scale as the revelation stuff (especially the instrumental track) and a lot of their other more recent albums. Find it hard to REALLY get into it and see past it. Must be the musician in me. Glad of the end to the generic ballads though! Great production. Deen is a monster!!!

This is the issue with Arnel....he still has some diction problems. When Steve was doing his vocal gymnastics you could always tell what word he was singing....I hear Speak lessons...but if it is Speak, it can't be horizons. I also hear tough love and faith. But it very well could be tough love and pain....

After listening to it nearing 50 times, I'm cooling down on my liking of it. I find it very repetitious. And the lyrics, although positive and uplifting, leave me kinda flat....the best part of the entire song is the music structure. I love that part of it. 100% of that front.

Great pop anthem but is this song really any harder than NWA? I'm going to guess that there are unreleased cuts that may end up being the real favorites for a lot of us once we get to hear the entire album (ala TDTWT on Revelation). Andrew promised heavy guitar action but this seems aimed more at the DSB fan, with the gaiety of its lyrics. You would think a song allegedly written with the city of Manila as inspiration would have been a no-brainer to release in Latin America as many of the countries there share the same economic demographics as the Philippines.

I have to admit, with the success of DSB in Europe, COH may do well in UK but maybe more so because of it's song structure as compared to lyrical content.

I listen to songs all the time where I have to go look up the lyrics for a particular line. I saw an interview with Roland Orzabal on his solo album where the interviewer asked the meaning of two different lines of lyrics and he corrected her on both, which changed the meaning. The funny thing was I had heard both lines the same way the interviewer did.

I think it's great that the band continues to make new music for us, however, I think the days of expecting a Journey album to blow up the charts are long over. As long as there is something there I can enjoy and they still have great live shows, I'm happy.

Weaker than all songs on Arrival. And then this is actually the single too... Not much in the way of hooks here. More like Generations revisited.

Very pedestrian sounding affair.

I think this is the kind of song that might get on the Hot 100 but be short lived, like Superman did from Bon Jovi's last album. Maybe not hard enough to compete with Muse and Foo Fighters on the rock charts but a bit too heavy for Adult Contemporary. There is an adult pop chart on Billboard where I'm guessing this will do very well.

Neal might not like that but Journey made their name on the pop charts and one 'wall of sound' album is not likely to change that overnight.

I like it quite a bit. The lyrics are totally current for what's going on in the world today. Usually, Journey is about relationships. It's nice to hear them talking about current events. I WISH they'd left out "State of Grace" not cuz it's lame, but just cuz they've used it so much.

I think it's a great song.

By the way, as a single it won't sell. Has NOTHING to do with the quality of the music. If you think it does, look at the current charts, they BLOW. Great, hard rocking song. Thanks Journey for not whimping out on us!

This will sound awesome blaring from my car.

Knowing how much you liked Revelation, this isn't a surprise.
And yes, I already saw your critique on WITTW but as EVERYONE thinks that sucks, you get no points there.

I gotta listen more to it, but so far I'm sadly inclined to agree. I really had high hopes. I'm glad the production's great, but right now, this song isn't grabbing me even the way FITH or Never Too Late did. It might be a grower though. The problem is, Journey music isn't really meant to "grow on you." It's supposed to grab you.
