Best Block of Consecutive Albums by one band....

Postby S2M » Wed Apr 13, 2011 6:41 am

I was thinking about this. It intrigues me. Just want to see if Journey gets the preferential treatment in every musical question ever posed to man....

What are the best 4 consecutive releases of all time by one band.....?

I gotta go with:

Nice thread idea. One that immediately comes to mind:

Dream Theater:

Images & Words
Awake
A Change of Seasons
Falling Into Infinity (subject to significant debate by fans of the band, but I think it's a very good album)
Scenes from a Memory
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (same as FII)

Styx is a good shout. Stronger than any four consecutive by Jrny. If it was only two in a row you couild argue Escape and Frontiers, but for 4 definitely Styx is a good shoult.

I'd go with Alice Cooper, Love it to death, Schools Out, Welcome to my Nightmare, Billion Dollar Babies

or

What about Rush 2112 Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permament Waves ??

The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)
Wish You Were Here (1975)
Animals (1977)
The Wall (1979)
The Final Cut (1983)

I'm of the opinion that October is the best one of the bunch. After that, the pop side started to take over.

I could think of a few runs of three great consecutive albums, but four is tough. The first one that came to mind is Van Halen, right out of the box:

Van Halen I
Van Halen II
Women And Children First

Truth be told - the other 3 are the classics, and I had to include Cornerstone to make that block....

But songs like Lights, Babe, Boat on a River, Borrowed Time, First Time....are fucking grrrrrreat!

Then some of us have to respond for the people who no longer participate (may they like our choices)
for Deano ...I'll say ...
Red 13
Generations
Revelation and he thinks this new Eclipse is going to be a huge hit!!

Powerage ain't that good. If it wasn't there, we could have had a six album block starting with T.N.T.
