"Hot Cherie"

Postby Rip Rokken » Tue Apr 19, 2011 3:25 pm

I had no idea this wasn't a Hardline original until tonight, and was stunned that there had actually been TWO other versions. God, were they awful! My hat's off to Johnny G & crew for taking such a tune and polishing it into a diamond. :)

I actually loved the Danny Spanos version back in the early 80's...

When I bought the Hardline cd when it was released, I remember
reading the track listing while I was standing in line thinking.
"No way!!!" Definitely a great track, thats for sure!

Good catch Rip. I've liked Streetheart for years, I didn't know they did the original?! :o That sounds like it might be real early Streetheart, Kenny Shield's vocals sound quite high there. Man they had some good music back in the day. One of my favorite albums, just bought the cd of it a couple years ago......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-9h8wtZ0Rg

Wow I didn't know Dr. Love wasn't a Hardline original either. I love their first album.

Hardline trivia: Which member, who is NOT Neal or Deen, also worked with SP?

Me neither! Except that version actually sounds good -- heck, it damn near sounds like the exact same song with a different vocalist. Wow...

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Hardline version was the first version that was released. The song was written (or at least co-written) by Mike Slamer, and later released on his Steelhouse Lane albums, but this was several years after the Hardline album. In other words, the Hardline version is the original...unless there is an earlier version of the song that predates the Hardline recording.

Have no idea, first I ever heard Dr. Love was on Double Eclipse back when I bought it when first released. That other version posted here is good too, but I think Hardline's is still harder sounding.

Hardline recorded it first, but Slamer did write it back in the day. He possibly did record it as well, but it was a demo and it never made it to any of his albums

Here's another one from Hardline that was redone by Khymera (Steve Walsh on vocals)

Boy, I'd love to have heard Steve Walsh do this song before his voice went south. Good song, though.
