I can't wait to hear She's a Mystery. And Edge of the Moment sounds like it's going to be amazing. It sounds very catchy.

I love behind the scenes like this. Thanks for posting, Andrew and Steveo.

Hmm, another song that can't make it onto radio with out all the guitar work getting edited out.

Yay! Who gives a damn about radio? They won't play it anyway. Journey is not a youth-oriented band (though I think that's wrong. Lots of kids go to those shows) and radio is a wasteland.

If you want to hear Lady Gaga, Bieber, hip hop, or some other rapper scum from the lower echelon, you go to the radio.

yeah, Melodic Rock ain't what's on the radio, not since about 1984. I guess the "there's nothing that can be played on the radio folks" would rather that Journey became Lady Gaga to sell albums...? Doesn't make a lot of sense. Of COURSE it won't get radio play. That's a good thing. (I like Gaga by the way, but it ain't Journey).

I can agree with this but I don't want to hear any crying two months from now about why new Journey is not getting played on the radio then.

And also, no complaining about Steve Perry getting royalties but not Arnel with all the old songs making a comeback on international radio.
Arnel has his own songs now, let him earn royalties for his own creativity.

Good post Don, especially your last sentence. I agree....let him make his own legacy. You never know what music will amaze us still 30 years from now. It may have his name
on it. I'm sure nobody knew DSB would enjoy the success that it has for the past few years, when the song first broke.

Well, Neal was the one who stated when they were making the album that they weren't making this album to try to get radio play and instead were making the album they wanted. I can't remember his exact words. I think he's given up on that, and if it happens, that's just a nice bonus.

I think radio IS a possibility.
But not in the US.

Our attention span isn't long enough. Remember when songs used to have bridges, choruses, and verses? Now they just have a riff or hook repeated over and over and over and over and over...

One more thing, is Gaga selling via radio? Not in Seattle. It's all Youtube, etc.

The behind the scenes are great ,it brings the band closer to the fans.
I hope they will include some in the Eclipse tour DVD.

We know what Neal said but the band AND fans are used to getting some airplay on radio. As you may have saw in my other thread, there were three classic Journey songs on the charts in Mexico after Journey toured there. No matter what Schon says, I do expect to hear grumblings like we do every tour about why the new songs are not getting played on the radio, especially from the 'newer' fans, who weren't part of the scene when Journey ruled Top 40 radio.

Gaga is all over the radio. But you're right, her youtube hits are astounding, 370 million on one official video, Bad Romance. She's got a young fanatical fanbase and then pretty big casual fanbase. I had a friend go to her concert a few weeks ago. She doesn't own her music but decided to see what the fuss was about. She admitted she was pretty impressed with her and didn't realize she had such a strong voice.

True, not everybody can look half their age. But I meant, gawd a few wrinkles never killed anyone, just adds character.....shoot when he smiles a couple times there in that clip I'm scared his face is going to crack. Shame, cuz he's a good looking guy.

Great example. Kip (and Eric too for that matter) DO have a few wrinkles close up........but he's aged gracefully, Kip isn't trying to look like he's 25-30 anymore.

I must be looking at a different video. He has deep smile lines in that clip and has lines around his eyes. He should gain a few pounds. His face is thinner.

Maybe it's cuz I haven't seen any recent Journey footage so I wasn't expecting it, but just kinda freaked me out at the 2:45 there!

Ain't that the truth, talent like Mr Big can sell out the Budakon twice over still, but yet us lucky North American folk here get to listen to the likes of Will Smith's kid scream about how she "whips her hair back and forth" over and over and over and over. Oh happy day.....

Last tour, Journey played Gymnasiums while Mr. Big played Budokan. They don't just blindly follow any American act like they used to 30 years ago. The #7 song on today's Japanese iTunes Rock chart is Mr Big's 'To Be With You' so there is some type of loyalty there obviously. Japanese fans have stuck with some Western acts continuously over the years but not every band has been so lucky. The economy over there is not that good, not every 80s band concert is an instant sellout like the old days.
