The Voice........

Postby Deb » Wed Apr 27, 2011 6:46 am

Anybody else looking forward to catching this program? Starts tonight.......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmi38mFA ... re=related

I like the premise of it. Of course. It's all about "the voice" not the package or the gimmick. LOL @ the Maroon 5 dude's comment......"remember the 70s? Some pretty sketchy looking people, but some gorgeous voices!"

I like the premise of the show, but I don't give the public as much credit. Image sells. And these dopes ain't gonna invest in an ugly dude/dudette that can sing....this ain't that witch with the golden pipes from X-Factor.

I have the DVR set.

And some hockey fan you are, Deb....Calgary is hunting polar bears, and you aren't gonna watch other games? Pretend hockey fan. I call shenanigans.... :P

If Vancouver takes it in game 7, I'm still in..........if they don't, I'm out. If the Cup ain't coming back to Western Canada via Van then yep, I don't give a shit who gets it.

 That was last night on Dancing With The Stars. It was guilty pleasures night and they got to pick their song, Chris Jericho picked DSB, and gave Steve Perry props, (Chris is in a rock band) and said he loves Steve Perry and said he is his main influence.

I saw that and thought to myself, well, it looks like there will be people googling that song and more GH albums will be sold,
providing further funding for the retirment fund of Journey's silent 6th member.

And so it should be..........he's influenced a lot of singers, Journey wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for the addition of Perry's golden pipes. :D

But, but.. there was Journey before and after Perry. Let's just look past the fact that the total of Journey albums sold minus he who shall not be named are probably less than 10% the total sold with him.

I call BS on that. I've read numerous interviews with Chris, and he always cites Ozzy(his main influence), Iron Maiden, Dio, Priest, Helloween, and the Beatles....I think he was trying to get some, 'I owe you money' from SP....lol

When I hear the words "the voice" the first two singers to pop into my head are Steve Perry and John Farnham.

You don't get EM either, so I'm not surprised. It's called delivery, bruthah. I don't know alot about his stuff, but I absolutely love everything about this song (the grandiose chorus, his delivery, the upbeat feel of the song) one of my favorite songs, and he can still bring it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDI-f8NI1FE

You know, Deb, I NEVER -- rarely agree with S2M, and it pains me to do this, but I don't get the love for Farnham as one of the best voices of all time, either. That clip did nothing for me. And he always seems like a comic singing.

BTW, Happy Birthday. :D

I like Farnham. He's got great range and has always been known for excellent stage presence.

He does over sing a bit sometimes, as illustrated here.

I think he's an excellent singer, just not one of the top of all time. That's what I don't get. I will take George Michael over him any day.

Having seen both of them in their hayday, I'd rate George as a better singer overall than a great voice like Steve Perry.
Michael's one guy you don't even see Arnel trying to mimic.
