Richard Marx gets a Wal-Mart deal

From the front page of MR.

Richard Marx is teaming up with Walmart for an exclusive release next month. The singer/songwriter is putting out a three-CD collection called Stories to Tell, which consists of two discs' worth of greatest hits -- both studio versions and acoustic versions -- plus a DVD recorded live in London at a recent concert.
Among the songs you'll find in the package are "Right Here Waiting," "Should've Known Better," "Satisfied," "Endless Summer Nights" and "Hazard," as well as his own interpretation of "This I Promise You," the hit he wrote for 'N Sync. Also included is Richard's new single, "When You Loved Me," which will hit iTunes April 26th.

Good for him. I saw Marx on Legends & Lyrics with Kenny Loggins and the guy seems to have just boatloads of enthusiasm for music in general.

He does have a genuine love of music and his craft and it is really inspiring how much he enjoys what he does, but he also has a sense of humor about himself.

In addition to that he is really honest. He has a vlog on his site and has been know to openly criticize and praise audiences and is on point. He always offers criticism fairly and usually offers suggestions.

Frankly, he just knows how to use a website to stay actively involved with his fans and to add my own criticism is that if a solo artist can have this much of an online presence then band with multiple members have no excuse. This is the future of music and artist must do this to build a career and survive in the new age.

Besides having terrible hair in the 80's, this guy is a great songwriter...I'm not a fan, but I sure do respect his work.

This is from December, the guy sounds pretty good. The rumors used to be that besides the songs he has written publicly for other artists, Marx supposedly did a bit of ghost writing also (basically, getting paid a large sum up front, in exchange for never having your name credited to the song) One alleged benefactor of this was said to be Peter Cetera, around the time of Chicago 17 and his subsequent departure from the band.
