What song.....

Postby Abitaman » Sat May 14, 2011 9:52 pm

Does anyone know what song by Sam Cooke(?) that LTS is based upon. I use to know, and was looking through my Cooke collection for it. I have not had any luck, may have the artist mixed up.

I read once that it was "inspired by" Nothing Can Change This Love.

Here's the song. A Sam Cooke classic. The first four words and melody of LTS are a tribute to the song.

It's amazing how much you can "hear SP in that song..even that "I know, I know, I know" and "my, my, my". Great song.

Holy derivative batman! Jeez, I never listened to a Sam Cooke song really before. Perry COMPLETELY cloned his style from him, good LORD.

Yes, Cooke's influence is all over Perry's vocals. Perry used it to his advantage and took it to a whole new level.

And for the record, LTS is not plagiarism, it's a tip of the hat to Cooke (this gets debated a lot on this board).

Here's another Cooke song that mirrors Perry.

Even if Perry no longer has the range of yesteryear, I'd bet that he could still carry a tune at this range and tone. And I'd be happy with that.

yep, from The Man Who Invented Soul ...I remember discussing. It's
not like it's a secret, SP is on record as crediting Cooke as one of his
main influences ...on more than one occasion. I, for one, am grateful that
someone was able to do him justice!!

Great song and I would love to hear Perry's version of it. Heck I would just like to hear Perry do another song. Don't care who's song it is. I never got to hear him sing ln person and I regret to this day picking Alabama over Journey.
