New Christopher Cross Album - Doctor Faith

Postby Ehwmatt » Fri May 27, 2011 1:26 am

I just picked this up... and WOW  What an effort from Christopher Cross. I've always been a fan of his, but this is an EXCELLENT effort. He has done away with the 80s keys and gone with a more modern, guitar-driven album while retaining his classic songwriting.

This album buttfucks Eclipse in the melodic department (which if you've been following me below, I do like Eclipse) and just sounds great. Cross has done for his style/sound here what Loverboy did with Just Getting Started - sounding indisputably like himself, but also sounding modern and catchy. I wouldn't be embarrassed to play this album for my friends who aren't down with 80s music like I am.

The vocals and guitars on this song just sound GREAT.

I agree with you, I picked up the album about a week ago and really have been enjoying it. I will be listening to this album years later, while Eclipse gets placed into the milk crate archives.

Great album. I've mixed it in with Keane and Snow Patrol for a walking playlist. It sounds modern, yet still keeps the classic Cross sound.

If you'd like to hear his classics done a bit diiferently, check out The Cafe Carlyle Sessions. It's got a bunch of the hits re-recorded with Cross, accompanied by a Jazz Quartet. Very cool.

Thanks, I always liked his music. I will try and get it. Love the Magritte like artwork on the cover.
