I think Journey will nick the top ten on BB, but I dont seem them reaching the top 5.

I still think a top five, no less than a top ten. Purchases from diehards will guarantee that at least. If they could capture any new customers who have been keeping the greatest hits on the chart over the last year, this thing would do 150k easily.

This is definitely a good point. They don't stay on mission. Hell, they almost even lost me when they said they were going back to the legacy sound. Only when I found out the re-records would also include new music did I remain a fan.

Having said that - Eclipse is outstanding and will sell 250k - 500k overall. Similar to what I think Arrival did (350kish?)

I think Arrival is only around 177,000. That number seems low though.

I'm pretty sure Arrival's last official count (which was years ago) stood at 370,000.

150k in one week is not just a dream...it's a fanboy fantasy.

For that to happen, this CD would have to be a consistent #1 at Wal-mart - BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE SELLING IT. The fact that I see it move all over the top 5 says to me that it is getting inconsistent sales - at best.

I initially thought the band's position on this chart would be a big measuring stick to how well they would do on Billboard but after seeing Richard Marx nears it top five over the last three weeks and still not having his album sell enough to enter Billboard's top 200, I'm not sure how viable a barometer this is to estimating the album's ultimate debut position on Billboard.

Is Marx a Wal-mart exclusive? If so, that is why he can be in the top 10 of Wal-mart's sales, but not on Billboard. Most artists do not have exclusive deals at ONE retail outlet. I do not go to Wal-Mart to buy CD's...if anything, I'd go to Best Buy.

If anything, amazon's digital downloads is more accurate...and last I looked, Eclipse is well out of the top 10.

YOU need to pay attention. If youre gonna count the $25 CDs on amazon as HARD COPIES, then why not count the sales over eBay and craigslist too

Considering that most of those were bought by Dokken's number one fan, it's not that good either. :( What Journey needs is more Dokken fans in this world. Am I right, RIP?

That's God awful, but I feel nothing but contempt for the band atm: This is what happens when you market yourself so horribly.

Really! Who was sleeping at the wheel and is anyone in that camp paying a brain cell of attention? They could fix this.
Maybe they are testing things and possibly going to fix a few things on the album, then do a proper promo?
I'm dumbfounded and I hope they read the feedback. This could have been a beautiful thing.

The only consolation will be that they will chart decently in the UK and Japan but even with all those sales combined, they will still have less than what Revelation debuted with, just in the states alone (Rev had a legit 105k on debut, no double count).

AND STILL NO AMAZON LINK ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

On the notion that these numbers are even close to accurate, I think that double album idea can be put to rest.

Shit, S2M didn't even see this coming. I feel like an idiot, personally.

I don't.
I wanted Eclipse to sell so it would continue to give the band incentive to put out new albums. It doesn't change the quality of the release, it just makes it less likely for the band to put out new material.
I don't know if the band has an actual say in the marketing, but it seems like Neal and co. could have really made some noise about it if he wanted to.
Absolutely incompetent and utterly inexcusable. Great going, guys. You had a great album you could have pimped, but you fumbled the ball again.

Is this where we say, as far as retail is concerned Steve Perry Is Journey?

I am still ticked about that interview the other day when they ask Neal where to get the album, will it be on iTunes, etc. and Neal just keeps bleating on about Wal-Mart.

When the sales of Street Talk or FTLOSM equal those of Journey's Greatest Hits or Escape, yes. 'Til then, no.

This is just sad. Better band now (more inspired and energized) and a great singer. Fuck, Azoff, you could have
done better. What kind of manager are you? Maybe he's decided it's time to kill this thing off...or, Neal grew a
big head and this is a way to put him in check and say, next time we do it my way. ?????
