Really what I loved was hearing new Cain and Schon music. I'm hung up on the vocals, and it's not Arnel's fault. He gave it a valiant and admirable effort, but he's just no Perry.

Go back and listen to "Separate Ways", "Ask The Lonely", "Stone In Love", and pretty much any of the songs with the stacked, layered vocals. Perry had a technique to stacking those vocals effortlessly and you don't hear anything even similar to that in the post-Perry songs (minus "Remember Me"). It's the missing ingredient to this band, and you'd think the band would try to create those huge, endless layers of vocals that used to be such a big part of their amazing sound... but they don't. They layer a few vocals here and there, but it's just not the same. Hell, several times in Eclipse, the backing vocals don't even end at the same time as the lead vocal, and it sounds sloppy as hell!

Of course Perry sounds nothing like he used to anymore, but I'd take another Perry album with the band over 10 more Arnel albums. Just saying.

If Perry didn't have the magic, Journey would have just been another obscure forgotten 70's band with killer musicians but no frontman. They should all thank Steve Perry every morning when they wake up for every dime the band makes today. It's all because of his vocals and his passion. You're talking as if I'm part of some kind of bigger agenda just because I don't like the new album. Very strange. I'm offering my views on it, and you obviously have a problem accepting them. But this is a discussion forum, where I thought one was supposed to discuss things? "Move on" can be applied to a lot of views, but then there wouldn't be a lot of discussion, would there?

You listened to four tracks off the album and condemned one for being too cheesy, while in the same breath praising a past album that featured keytar solos and Randy Jackson in polka dots. Your motives are questionable and your posts are shit.

You're right. They don't need Perry to create an album that does sell and does not have any songs that get on the radio. In fact, they don't need Arnel for that either...they could have done that with JSS or Auger, or even Flieschman.

Sales in this case have nothing to do with whether this album is good or not. Piss poor promotion is the answer to the lagging sales.
We all know that even absolute shit can turn in great sales numbers when properly promoted.

I was astounded that people were predicting 100,000 in sales, topping the sales of Revelation...SJ basically promising this forum the world. The when people like me said you should be happy if it sold 50,000, we were met with posts saying some people were going to b e surprised...
