I may be exposing my ignorance here, but what is the purpose of having 3 medium of the same album?

A CD for the car and a LP you can play in the right environment and put the other one on the record player when the first 6 songs are done.
Seriously, the Vinyl will bring out some nuances you will not hear on the CD, the proper equipment willing.

I disagree. If the album were recorded in an analog environment, then yes, you'll hear more from vinyl, but that's not the case anymore. It's a digital environment and all those 1's and 0's make it to the CD.

I've just sent out my Fisher 400C receiver to a a friend who reconditions them, replaces capacitors, etc, and basically cleans them up.
Same with my Bose 901 speakers. This should have more to do with the cones and tweeters and less to with the cabinets, which are pristine.
I decided to buy a new turntable and preamp and am still shopping. I have an old Technics and can't find the preamp.
I'm gonna hear this as best as I can, as well as some of my old LPs.
