LOL, there is a bunch from other concert goers up on youtube too, so yeah, probably most of the songs are up. Knew you'd like Stranger, very emotive, poured his heart'n soul into that one. 8)

I thought the new tracks came off great live, and "Stranger In My Life" in particular. Deb, did you see Paul give Eric a high-five after that one? Thought that was cool, as if to say, "Great job, Eric..."

Yeah, I think that one is pretty vocally taxing live. Got a little chuckle out of the face he made at me around 2:25 tho  but stupid me, I cut it off before PG's huge high-five.  Not usually one for capturing vids as you can tell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-GlJiceb1s

Just uploading Alive and Kicking now. Watching these as I uploaded them, you're right there was lots of smiles going 'round I think the guys were having a blast. That 4:00 mark on the Addicted To That Rush clip I posted when the crowd just goes nuts, the guys were just lovin it and soaking it all in. Great to see, well deserved for these 4! :)

Alive and Kickin' :D

Somebody posted another new one "Around The World" too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJR9ewMd0fA

All the YouTube clips I've seen of the US show are great! Was this a one-off or will there be more US shows?

I think it was more of a one-off. The only 2 US dates on the back of the tshirt for this tour is the first LA gig and the M3 gig in MD in May for now. They just flew out this week for their Japan/Asia/South America tour for the next 2 or 3 months. Maybe in the late summer/fall?

LOL, ain't happening. Seeing a 2 hour set in a mid-size venue last weekend, front-row center, was the way to go when it comes to seeing one of your favorite bands! I just can't top that. :D I'm sure I'll be checking out/posting youtubes from the coming tour though. 8) Althooooooough, I'm not completely ruling out coming down to the US for another show if/when they do some more dates later in the year. They are just THAT good!

I would love to see another MB show and see everybody again! One of the best shows I have seen in years! LOL, I was sitting at work today thinking.....ho hum back to reality, all that energy and fun, it was damn near like come down off a high or something the last couple days.  And then had to laugh when I saw Billy Sheehan's facebook status today (from Japan). "Still thinking of the LA show---what a night!"

From some of the comments made by Billy and Eric at and since the show, you know they are sooooooo going to be doing more US shows later. 8) Thing that makes me smile the most is seeing how well they are all getting along. All grown/moved past any of the old baggage, especially between Billy and Eric. The chemistry with all 4 is soooo there again. :D

"Large aftershock yesterday from Tokyo to Hokaido, just right in the time of Mr. Big Osaka concert. While this tour is happening, aftershocks are still expected to happen. Article below says many foreigners cancelled their trip to Japan for fear of earthquakes and radiation.. Kudos to Paul, Eric, Billy, Pat for still choosing to go, for helping the Red Cross, it means so much to many fans."

LOL yeah not much gets past me when it comes to MB music.

They did play that one, and all but one off the new album, for the Japan shows (see Osaka setlist posted above). But very few youtubes came out of the Japan shows, that song hasn't been posted. :(

I'd point you to the other gems in their catalogue, but I might get called a sychopant. My fave goes back and forth between Undertow and I Get The Feeling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQNZEg9n7_s from this album.

Clip from yesterday's Vienna show...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISHJy3i7G88 ..... cast and all. I'm thinking they are going to have to take out their 'Smoke On The Water' performance in the encore (posted above) from the setlist considering they all change out instruments 2 times over during the song. Can't see Eric playing guitar and bass anymore. They were doing 'Brown Sugar' earlier in the tour with Eric on drums. :o

Love E's lyrics in that one........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF4ORKhhbGY
As Far As I Can See is quickly becoming a fave too..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkl8rH9UDNQ

Both of which they are playing LIVE, is it just me or is Billy's bass tuned waaaay to loud in those clips, almost drowns the vocals and guitar out.......or maybe it's where the person was standing?

 ....and here 2nd. :P Thanks for taking the time to do such an indepth review! :o :D

It's almost spooky how much we think the same musically.  Nobody Left To Blame is my least favorite on the album too.....except for that killer vocal run of EM's near the end, love that! I got the Japan release first so that is the one that went on my IPOD, so I haven't really listened as much to UnForgiven, the US bonus track. I'll have to have a few listens to that one. :) I'll send you the Japan bonus track Kill Me With A Kiss. Think you'll really like that one, it's penned by EM too, and has the same kind of vibe as Voodoo Kiss.

MG's What If review!!
In pieces ...

The vox are the focal point …always, for me, EM is my kind of vocalist …
his delivery is gritty, emotional, passionate, soulful …incredible!!!
The band is equally mesmerizing and fantastic …
They are all in sync, complementing one another …each having the
opportunity to shine throughout. Everything just flows, sorta like making
beautiful music together …who’da thunk?!?!
I love the raw feel and the rockin’ riffs …
this lp is chock full of incredible hooks and great effin’s songs
(fantastic lyrics).
Perfect mix of songs, as well …they didn’t forget the ballads …two!!

Undertow~ Rocks from the first note with the perfect blend of
gritty guitar, drums …all blending with one another, no one player
overpowering another. add some rockin’ vox, incredible track …
Great lyrics, melody, guitar solo is bravisimo …just perfect!!
Grabbed me the first time I heard it!!

American Beauty~ You know you’re going rock here …
the back and forth, singer, guitar, steady beat of the
drum and bass make it impossible to sit …EM
is kickin’ some major ass and totally rockin’ you
out of your seat …and then the pass off …guitar!!
The things he can do w/his pipes, at this pace, and
still maintain the emotion is incredible.

Stranger In My Life~ This song touched me from “HELLO”!!
…it’s my favorite. The musicianship, again,
perfect, the heart beat of the drum and the guitar solo …
M~M~M. The lyrics and melody are incredible, but
the vox make this song soooo remarkable …
emotional, soulful, full of pain without being so dark
it turns depressing. He just sucks you in with his delivery …
I just want to take him home and you know …hug him.
The guitar solo near the end reflects every bit of the
pain and emotion set forth by the singer …
just amazing!! I LOVE THIS SONG ...swoooon!!

Nobody Left To Blame~ The Guitar at the intro
indicates a bit of darkness and then, boom, the drum
jumps in and change the entire landscape with the pace …
EM sucks me in w/his delivery and I find myself anticipating
the next change…The drumbeat reminds me
of a war dance … and fits right
in w/the war the singer is experiencing with himself.
The musicianship here is incredible, but still, one of my
Least favorites.

Still Ain’t Enough For Me~ You know from the
intro you’re going to rock out …EM’s vox are strong
and forceful and they have to be because the band
is lighting you up …drums, ripping bass, guitar …everyone
has their moment to stand out and shine …this is a kickass track.

Once Upon a Time~ Gives a whole new meaning to
Grimms Fairy Tales, a grown~up bedtime story …
dirty, gritty …oooolala on the
guitar solo!! A little hint of soulful, jazzy R&B …love it!!

As Far As I Can See~ Good strong, emotional,
gritty, sexy, soulful vox …this is incredible. It’s all
about the pipes, what a display …love it!

All The Way up~ Geeezuz, I love this …
another favorite.
The vocal delivery is so passionate and desperate,
such a beautiful job by EM. I could sooo see this
being a hit in the 80’s …it’s a hit for me now!!

I Won’t Get In My Way~Love this …Great harmonizing
…great lyrics, great rocker. I love this song …gotta
Listen …strong, fluid musicianship …love it!!

Around The World~ More great bass and geeetar!!
another fantastic rocker …geez the instrumental
is nothing short of amazing …the way they are all
speaking to each other and more great vox,
fantastic!!

I Get The Feelin’~ Let’s go… kickass
Rocker with a kickass guitar solo!! The intro reminds
me of something I can’t quite put my finger on?!? It
takes me back, yet it's fresh!! Good Stuff!!

Unforgiven~ The vox are amazing and so soulful …
but the guitar shines here and is incredibly,
friggin’ sinful …I had flashbacks of sitting in
a church pugh fretting about what I was
going to say to the scary, but soft voice
on the other side of the confessional ?!?! Only
waaay more fun!!

Not 1 bad track on this lp!!

gritty, sexy, soulful vox …this is incredible. It’s all
about the pipes, what a display …love it!

At least one rock magazine review agrees with ya. 8)

As Far as I Can See” is all about Eric Martin and showcases his strong vocal abilities. Martin remains one of the top vocalists in the melodic rock community and he shines on this track. There’s a reason he is bigger than Godzilla in Japan."

And those are my thoughts exactly on American Beauty too. Surprises the hell out of me too how he can still portray emotion delivering vocals at the incredibly fast pace that song requires. :o LOL, and got a giggle out of your confessional comment on Unforgiven.

So, here's mine...MG made my task harder...

What If review

I think MG said almost everything about how great this album is, but for me the most important thing is : FEELING…no one shines more than the other guy. When I’m listening the album I feel like they were playing live. It’s a spontaneous record. This hiatus was good for the band. They returned stronger and this can be heard on the whole album…

It's a paradox, I can't relate it to any other Mr. Big album, but this one is so Mr. Big than any other previous album. The key is to have passion and belief in what they're doing. Even if were a jazz album, it would sound like Mr.Big.

Personal thoughts:

Paul Gilbert: In the early albums the guitar sound was clean, I mean, with finesse, it was like he had been playing clearly note by note…but on this record he's sounding like a monster. He's throwing killing riffs

Pat Torpey: Another one that is amazing…with a small drum kit, he plays like 3 drummers playing together.

Billy Sheehan: He recovered the will to play..he's having fun!. Playing together with Paul again helped him on his way back to his glory days. A top 5 bassist for sure. Kudos for him and Eric for putting aside their differences. His playing is awesome on this record

Eric Martin: Great performance for a soulful vocalist, one of the few these days. His songs are also great.

The Songs:

Undertow - A different vibe from the previous opening songs. A serious song, that makes you stop and pay attention to the song in the first listening. From the second listening, you start to mimic drum parts and guitar riffs…contagious!!!

American Beauty - A typical Mr. Big rock sound. The example of what Mr. Big is all about. Four incredible musicians playing in harmony.

Stranger In My Life - With the exception of David Coverdale, no one can write ballads like Eric Martin. A touchy song, soulful and heartfelt. It’s hard to not mix emotions with this one. It's a real life situation.

Nobody Left To Blame - Should be the most different song on the album. A change of pace. Darker, but with a fantastic performance from Pat, Billy and Paul. The effect on Eric’s voice didn’t amazed me. But the instrumental pieces make it worth.

Still Ain’t Enough For Me - The first time I heard this song another one came into my mind. I spent days trying to remember and finally discovered. It was Van Halen’s “I’m the One”. The guitar tone is almost the same EVH used on the first album and the pace is the same…and…THIS IS GREAT, I LOVE VAN HALEN…Paul too!!

Once Upon a Time – Pat Torpey shine on this one. Killer riff…makes me going round into the room playing imaginary guitars!!!

As Far As I Can See – Great harmony vocals on this one…it took time, but now it’s one of my favorites

All The Way up - One of the few songs that could fit on this early albums, maybe Bump Ahead…a classic EM song. Straight and beauty.

I Won’t Get In My Way – The best one. Amazing in every ways. Headbanging song. As I said on another thread… I can't help shaking my head and doing some air guitars...

Around The World - Paul and Billy’s extravaganza…you think that’s impossible to play like that, but they do!!!

I Get The Feelin’ – A summer song, to blow your speakers. A real hooky chorus and another passionate performance

Unforgiven - Maybe, the weakest song on this record. But in this case I would give 9,0…not bad!!! Maybe if this song were in another position, like after Once Upon a Time it would give a 10. To be a follower to I Get the Feeling didn’t help.

Kill Me With a Kiss – An ode to Bad Company/Paul Rodgers. A 70’s vibe. A real cool one, especially the jam on the final minute.

That's it!!

I must be clear here....the only emotion EM 'emotes' with his singing is he enjoys to sing. He surely doesn't convey the emotion of the song itself. And that's not a knock, its the truth. He doesn't make me think, 'Hey! that guy must have went through what he is singing about, cause damn there's some fine, fine, emotion in his voice'....nope, doesn't happen. Does he have an above average voice? Sure. Does he know HOW to sing? Yep. Does MB craft awesome, emotion-filled epic songs that ooze that classic quality? Nope. Are they excellent musicians? Sure.....but emotion? Hells No!
