What these nimirods should have done, was go out on the road, on an exclusive American/Canada tour with Shania Twain, and opened up. Screw the new crap. They could play 1 or 2 of the new ones sure, but just being on the bill with her, would ensure tons of sales of Eclipse. I just read her book, and she even mentions Journey on a page...she was a fan...not sure of now though.

I thought I read she was in a Journey cover band in her teens, actually? She had an album WAY back I bought my wife when it was reissued - maybe her first one - and it was pure 80's music. I could actually see that tour.
I am tired of reading about the demise of Journey on here though. I've been reading this for 15 years now and they keep coming back.

I'm glad I did because by reading most of these posts you'd think it was a steaming pile of shit, and it most certainly is not. I never would have made the decision to get the cd if i went by a lot of the reviews just here alone! As for radio play, are you kidding me? They could put out a new cd of the best material they have EVER PRODUCED but if it isn't DSB then you won't hear much of it on the radio. Journey, to your average radio listener and most radio stations, is irrelevant. Not to me though. If there is one small complaint I have with the new cd i can sum it up in one word. Arnel. It seems to me like his vocals just get in the way of the music.

Mgt does have power. Azoff can wield it like a motherfucker, he chooses not to, and Cain and Schon don't say a single word. This is it, folks. Cherish this last piece of original material like no other. I can see another Live DVD/CD coming out to satisfy the Flip Nation, but no way anyone, not even that shit record company Frontiers takes Journey on.
Advantage Perry, and he didn't even put out a fucking record!
Well said. Maybe Azoff actually listened to the album and gave it what he thought it was worth in terms of promotion. He's not a dummy. NS wanted his record. Now he has it. And the results are as clear as day.
Lmao, that's so full of shit. The results are clear as day? What? the 17,000+ that bought Eclipse bought them, had a sour taste for the music, then RETURNED them? It sure as hell doesn't have anything to do with the music. The guys really stepped up and put together a fuckin amazing album. Whoever says otherwise are either bitter or just doesn't have a taste for it for some reason but to say these songs are the results of bad taste is ludicrous.
I can see Eclipse selling units once they tour for the next 2 years. Common sense.
Dude, pull the Terrible Towel out of your eyes.
1- It's not that the music is bad, but there isn't a single radio friendly song on it. Neal KNEW this and didn't care. Radio is FREE promo/interest and sales.

I'm sure after reading this, Journey's gonna call in puff somebody or jazzy jo fo and make a kickin hip hop radio edit of a couple of these so that they will have something radio friendly to promote.

I'll be the first to admit that this album is lacking familiar ballads and that it rocks harder then most of the stuff they've put out in a long time. Plenty of people like harder rocking music. I say the music is not the problem here, even though some people don't like it, which is normal with any kind of music. The majority of the people who have reviewed it like the direction this album goes. Place the blame where it belongs, but not on the album, for it's pretty damn good and definitely marketable. (key word right there) Blame it on Walmart, Azoff, Neal, or anyone else that had anything to do with letting people know this product was available and where to get it. They should have had quality sound samples out for 3 months before the album was released. There should have been in store promotion for the album. The fact that there was a new album coming out should have been spread through every available social media network, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, & and spots on major television and radio. Some advertising is not very expensive, some is. They just forgot to decorate the new kid's room and buy the god damn crib.![]()

Yep...Jonathan does not have the balls to lead this or any other band. I can see Journey splitting up and Neal and Jonathan working on solo albums together, and writing for other musicians....but I just don't see how Journey can dig themselves out of this hole.
jestor92 wrote:The band shot themselves in the foot.
#1. There isn't one song on the album that is radio friendly. Not one song. That kills album sales because no one knows the album is out. They needed 2 Journeyish anthems and a true ballad with this release and it would've been better off.
#2. Revelation killed the album sales. There I said it. They needed Revelation to be a kick ass album and it was far from that. The album had 2-3 good songs max on it, the rest of the album were filler songs and an Augeri cover song. The rerecorded hits and Dvd are what sold that album, but if they would've released a great album with those 2 discs sales would be much better. You might be thinking well Revelation was a good album IMO. Look at it this way if you see a package done up like Revelation by a band that you enjoyed in the 80's picked it up and the new music sucked, would you by the next album that artist released? The answer is no.
#3. The press for this album was horrible. Hell Journey's own facebook page didn't even manage to say "Hey fans go check out the new album Eclipse coming out... Here is a sample of the new album." The people running the facebook and anything like that should be fired. They should've begged Andrew to do an interview like he's done in the past. Do anything to get the albums release out there.
#4. Don't know why they didn't package up a live cd as a second disc to go along with the release. They've done some touring already and the new songs have been played, should've recorded one of those shows and packaged it up and released it with the cd. Anyway you can get your GH out there to help push the new music.

I have no doubt Journey would be better with a guy who doesn't want to sing, and can't cover his own stuff. The packaging and brand name is everything to you, isn't it?

DLR can't sing for shit now....that doesn't stop fans from selling out VH shows. Did you catch Tyler on Idol last week? Dude butchered Dream On...but the fans will buy tickets to see Aerosmith. Fans want nostalgia...And since Journey hasn't toured with Perry in 24 years....I think they would absolutely fucking clean up $$$$ - wise.....

Complete shit post.
If you cannot even muster the strength to market said album, then are the goods better than the seeds?
please?
You thin Jon Landau peed a pod of piss when he marketed Born to Run?

Walmart doesn't have a clue about marketing music and maybe they think they can ride on the coat tails of the names they are selling,
but overall, it looks like they got it wrong this time. It's not just Journey's music. Look around.
