Sounds to me you're a bit jealous of this woman's success. Don't hate on her because she sells sells and sells. Perhaps some acts in your preferred genre should actually put something good out instead of crap like Nelson or Far Cry or some shit like that. Look, some of your bands on here are very good, but a lot more are pure shit cheese.

Gaga is just doing what she is supposed to do. Don't hate on her out of jealousy.

I think Lady Gaga is just like the rest of music today. It's more about the shock factor or looks than being talented. While she may very well be talented, I'll never know it because I don't care for this freaky shit that's permeating everything from music to tv and movies. They camouflage the lack of talent with the freak show.

I would listen to Lyle Lovett's ugly ass every day over the shit that's put out today, because that man has great talent.

Rick... she is very talented. Has been playing piano since she was a kid, taken lessons, studied music comp, songwriting etc. etc. I suppose you don't like P!NK either? I do not get how folks get so musically set in their ways. Tunnel vision? Somebody 'splain it to me... Is it an aversion to Chick artists?

No, not an aversion to "chick" artists. Not at all. I have many female artists that rank high on my favorites list. Ann Wilson, Carly Simon, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, the list goes on, but also shows a trend. I'm a fan of the older stuff. Those bands/singers then had to be great, or they didn't make it. Now days, it's not like that.

I realize that I'm musically myopic, but I'm just fine with that.

Pink is the one I love out of the young pop group. How she is evolving musically is impressive. Her Funhouse album was pop/rock and showed a lot of growth in her songwriting and the album came from the heart regarding the demise of her marriage. Here she is covering Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You on her last tour and giving her guitarist time to shine while leaving to change costumes..

One of my early faves from her is http://youtu.be/XuvF7HF_kLM If God Is A DJ  the newest hit by her has to do with embracing the humanity of all and rejecting the "haters" http://youtu.be/s4Rax2PXiWA [not too different than the GaGa message]

Gag gag couldn't carry Pink's jock strap to the stage. Auto-tune bullshit that gets her by should be banned. Hell, I love a great female singer fronting a band, but here are so many more better female SINGERS out there than Gag gag that actually CAN sing. Her Ringling brothers circus act is what she takes to the bank and thats getting real old already.

Gaga is totally club music, so different. And auto-tune is used so much nowadays for many popstars, but Gaga's vocals are not masked by autotune. It's used in most of her music sparingly. We'll see how she evolves next album, as she's ever-changing and may be overexposed at the moment and might need to stay out of the spotlight for a bit. But a very interesting artist that stands out from the pack. But I still follow pop and club music because it's part of what I grew up with. But I mostly buy songs, not albums and select a few albums.

But no one will ever compare to Madonna for me. I mostly listen her later work, 90s and 2000s music. I don't really stay back in time, the 80s, too much except listening sometimes to her compilation albums, even though I own everything she's done. With all the Gaga comparisons, Madonna's name keeps coming up and I went back and viewed a lot of her videos and performances from then. And no one beats for me the theatrics meets art meets great music meets some camp with the "it" factor Madonna had on stage, and I loved her vocal tone, even if her voice wasn't always perfect on stage. Her music wasn' t just dance. It's was vulnerable ballads, lovely pop music, and,of course, dance music. Of course it, changed as she grew older. But it is what Gaga is missing for me. But for the youth Gaga is what Madonna was to me, so I get it.

With all the religious iconography Gaga has been using in Alejandro and now Judas and she's being compared to Madonna for it, I still go back to Blond Ambition (Madonna's most iconic tour, the holy grail of female pop act concerts) and her performance of Like a Prayer (and also Express Yourself re performances) as the bar that was set and nobody has jumped over that bar so far.

Like a Prayer - 1990 -Blond Ambition tour - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iiqP40rmmA

Mhm, it always is very telling when folks do not do their research. No Auto-tune in this clip. It's so much easier to paint everyone with the same brush, yanno

Elton John and David Bowie come to mind in zany outfits and/or makeup. Two of my favs as far as tremendous artists in their day as far as artistic output.

Holy Fucking Gag gag! Watching 60 minutes last night and lo & behold the last segment was about Gag Gag. So I actually watched since the NBA finals came on at 8. I'm glad I did, what a fucking whack job. First off she mentions that she is an academic savant so to speak, telling us 3 different times. People who have to tell you they are, aren't! Secondly, what an attention whore. "She that camera over there, one over here, and if you weren't here giving this interview there would still be cameras there", wtf? Well Gag Gag, if you wouldn't dress like you WANTED to be seen every fucking minute maybe you could have some privacy you so desperately want. Looks to me that she's ripped off a little from Madonna, and a lot from little richard. I was just real disappointed in Anderson Cooper and missing the white elephant in the room and not asking the question, "Do you have a penis?" She just took over the "Scariest tranny ever" title from Rodman!

This made me LMAO ...but she is a very smart and talented girl!!
Perhaps, one day, she will take off her mask, remove any trace of
auto tune, tone whatever that crap is called and rely solely
on her talent ...

That's how I feel too. People these days ignore good music and buy crap. These marketing people know
that they can make anyone sell if they apply the money in the right places. All you have to be is controversial.
Maybe one of the Journey members need to take one for the team and get pasted all over the tabloids,
then their music would sell like hot cakes.

True...three years ago she was a busted country singer. She blows some record producer with a music role to sell to the sheople and voila', a 'star' is born.

Link please to your vast resource of knowledge.. you are certainly confusing her with someone else.

Gaga was in a few failed ballad bands. My bad on the country claim, but she was busted. She reminds me of all the night crawlers I used to see at Walmart at 2 in the morning shopping with their two and four year olds while I was searching for a meal after a good drunk many moons ago.

Up close she makes Barabra Stiesand look good. She's both dumpy and ugly, a bad combination, no matter what costume you dress her up in. Could you imagine waking up off a drunk, rolling over and looking at gaga with no make- up...............YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Double-bagger, minimum. You need a backup bag in case the first one comes off. I would also recommend a drawstring.

I'll pass on the Gaga phenomenon, just another record industry sales pitch and worthless distraction in my book.
