Looks neat...just not aimed at the hardcore gamer. Only title worth getting for me is Zelda. I may get it for that game alone. I'm waiting for the nextgen 360....but thanks for the vid....

Well with EA signing on to release all their sports and action games,, plus games like Tekken, GTA, Battlefield and many other hardcore games coming out for it, I think it will be a successful system. Time will tell. The Nextbox wont be out probably till 2015

They've already hired key people to work on the system, and have been working on it for a while.

LOS ANGELES, Jun 7 (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd's launch of its next-generation Wii console failed to address investor concerns the firm is missing the gaming market's shift to social networking, sending its shares tumbling to a five-year low. The Wii U, complete with a new touchscreen controller, is aimed at winning back hardcore gamers from rivals such as Microsoft Corp's Xbox and won early praise from industry critics at its launch at the E3 videogame expo on Tuesday. But Nintendo shares fell 6.5 percent in Tokyo on Wednesday, the most since the March earthquake, to levels not seen since before the original Wii was launched to rave reviews in late 2006. Investors said they needed more details on price and other specifications and were also worried Nintendo remained too centred on hardware as the gaming market increasingly shifts to a battleground over software. "Although some experts seem to like the new device, I expected Nintendo to move more into the social networking business," said Mitsuo Shimizu, deputy general manager at Cosmo Securities in Tokyo. "It's a warning from investors that the company should reconsider its business strategy and move more aggressively into social gaming operations."

Investors dont know much about gaming. Same thing happened when motion control was announced by Nintendo for the first Wii and both investors and even gaming industry were totally skeptical. Nintendo proved them wrong and made huge profits. Both Sony and Microsoft jumped on the wagon of motion control gaming but way too late .
I am pretty sure Nintendo will stick to plans and will launch this system next year and will make huge profits once again .

While I completely agree with Behshad's reply and I've learned not to count Nintendo out - I have to wonder what is up with the completely jumbo sized non-ergonomic controller.

What were they thinking?!?

The controller is pretty big youre right, but it could be very useful if you think about it Can you imagine playing Madden and all YOUR plays are displayed on the controller screen so your opponent in the same room cant see them?
How about racing where your rearview mirror will be the controller display.
In RPG and adventure games, you will have instant access to your inventory by just clicking the touch screen instead of opening a new in-game window .

The possibilities are endless. The deciding factor will be the software coming for this system. Nintendo will always sell millioons of the systems to its fanboys , but this will open up the doors to win over some hardcore gamers.
One thing Nintendo is best at (and always been) is First party games. That itself will generate enough hardware and software sales to keep them around for a while.
