Someone on my Youtube channel asked that question, and I had no idea. Never seen one like that.

Don is right.

It's basically a Roland GR-202 with a H-S-S pickup config: http://www.joness.com/gr300/guitars.htm

I asked this question a few yearss ago in the old BT Gear forum,
and the guy that runs Bannana's (?) answered it quite extensively...
I just can't remember what he told me :-)
I do remember that Neal sold it a long time ago...
And I think it was either a G&L or Aria...

Think it was an Aria. He had dealings with them around that time.

If memory serves, the Aria didn't come along until the Frontiers tour.

I also don't remember him using G&L's that far back.

The only thing I'd add is that he may have alternated between the earlier Roland GR-202 and the later Roland G 505 between the recordings of Escape and HSAS.

Thanks everyone!! I know its definitely not a Fender. The consensus seems to be Roland. I'm more of a big sounding Les Paul kind of player but there is just something about that tone coming from that red guitar that speaks to me. Of course, the tone is all in the fingers anyway...... :(

One of the two guitarists for UK band Wishbone Ash; that band was a huge seminal influence on the eventual sound of Iron Maiden's two guitar attack.

If you're jonesing for something similar to the old Roland but want it with modern electronics, Fender makes a modern "Roland Ready" model: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0144660306.
