I want to echo what both Don said in his posts and what Glenn said as well. Agree with you two 100%!

Look, so what if people over-analyze or "analize" something a professional rock band does? Keep in mind, these guys have made, and probably still make, mega bucks for their career path. I'm sorry, but to me, anything that's six figures and up is mega bucks to me! As being public figures, they should know they put themselves up for being under the microscope...that's just how it is. Don't like it, don't be a celebrity! If I don't do my job exactly the way my company/agency/supervisor(s) think I should do it, then they're going to tell me about, I'm going to get written up, suspended without pay, or worse yet fired. That's how it is in the real world. Believe or not, the fans are in most ways, the "bosses". We have every right to analyze the product that our hard earned dollars are going to. Maybe some in here are well off, hang out at the beach on a daily basis, live the good life. Good for you, but the rest of us living in reality are a bit more frugal with our money. $10 for something that is not a need should be spent on something we are going to feel is a good investment. If we don't enjoy it, it's $10 that could have been used for more important things like groceries or gas money.

And again, like Don said, this is not an official fan board. I would say IF this board ever became such, and differing views from all over the spectrum were no longer able to voice their opinions, then that is the day this board dies. I enjoy the differing views. Yes, it gets heated sometimes, but just because people are arguing does not mean they're not "hearing" what the other side says. Just means that both sides are very spirited about their beliefs, and there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

If you want a fan board, go to the Journey website.

 Monker, I wish you'd make up your friggin' mind, honestly. You've come across lately with alot of negativity towards the band and you certainly have made it known that you're not pleased with ECLIPSE. To be quite frank, I think some of Journey's older fans are too stuck in the past and are not interested in progressive new Journey music. I for one, am NOT in that category. I happen to think Eclipse is a solid effort and their best post Perry album to date.

I have criticized Journey for their decisions lately...not the music itself. That's not going back and forth. I've believed from the start that going from Augeri to Soto to Arnel, along with "moving on from Perry" to "going in a new direction"' to "we want to emulate the old sound" and now back to "going in a different direction", is a huge mistake. I think they went for the $'s with Revelation and in the long run it cut their recording career short. That's been my opinion forever. They should have never wavered from moving on from Perry...Journey has ALWAYS been a progressive band, not a retro band.

This isn't the most stellar album ever. Most of the songs would be better if the guitars were a bit "less". Sometimes less is more and makes the songs better. Most of these songs can't even be performed in concert by the current band...unless Neal grows a second set of arms and hands, or Arnel takes guitar lessons. But, overall, they are all good songs...some better then others. Maybe a 7.5 out of 10 for me. I've listened to it a lot more then Revelation, that's for sure.

I think the former is more likely than the latter.
Neal seems to be dead set against anyone else playing the guitar live. I swear to God, watching the DVDs and live clips, it's like Jon has nothing to do on guitar other than, say, "Stone In Love."
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

The last time I saw the band live (2006), Cain played guitar on probably 7-8 songs that night, possibly more. The other times, it's more like 3 or 4 songs.

That's not what I meant, sorry for not articulating it better.
What I meant is that Cain's actions on the guitar seem miniscule. On the DVDs and youtube clips, his rhythm contribution is barely audible.

I'm not sure it's decipherable at all from Neal's but that's a good thing, isn't it? That is, unless he sucks so bad that they have him turned WAY down in the mix as to not be heard.

It depends.
Note-wise, yes, it's a good thing as Cain's rhythm parts should blend seamlessly with Neal's.
On the other hand, when Neal goes off to a solo his pitch naturally gets higher, leaving Cain to do rhythm alone and I've found that it's muddled and relatively muted in many places on the DVDs and youtube clips. That's not a good thing at all, IMHO.
