Yep ...it's what I hear, did not like this song!!

This is a very fair review, good for the people
who love it, and for those of us who like parts of it ...
Certainly noone thought this would be embraced by the
world ...or even all Journey fans?!?!

The review IS fair, and it does make me understand the people with mixed feelings on the album a bit better, but honestly, hating 'Resonate' is just plain lunacy to me. The reviewer didn't really seem to get that song: it does have a more positive message than say 'Chain of Love' for example, but it's a bittersweet song. The dark mood and vocal delivery was spot-on for it IMO.

For the Perryfanatics, here's a mathmatical equation to make it easier
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) + Faithfully X 1/2(Who's Cryin' Now) = 'Resonate'

Let me make it easy for you, Virgil T heart ...I don't
like the song ...word of the day!!! The review is what the reviewer heard, not what
you hear ...I already know you're deaf in one ear and dumb in the other.
Now go brush your teeth and you can play outside ...

I only have a few problems with this guy's review. Nothing to do with how he rates the album.

But it's just too long and orchestrated for what you want to hear from Journey.

Don't tell me what I want to hear from a Journey album. Just make clear what you as the writer want to hear from Journey.

Arnel Perry or Steve Pineda or whatever his name is (Arnel Pineda)

Unnecessary and disrespectful (to both Pineda and Perry)

It's darker than you would expect, or want from a band like Journey who's job is to create feel-good anthems.

Again, don't tell me what I want from Journey. Also, just because this reveiwer wishes to confine Journey into only creating "feel-good anthems", doesn't not make it so. In one part of the review he is talking about creativity, then makes a statement like this which basically encourages stifling creativity.

Yea, the review sucks. Just from a writing standpoint, he's not in Andrew's league.

Totally agree w/you on this, I don't
like it from people, in general. All he had to do is change "you" to "I"
The Perry/Pineda comment didn't bother me ...it's tame!!!
The guy does a good job, I've read many of his reviews and
sometimes I agree, other times, I don't ...doesn't mean he doesn't
know his stuff, or have an opinion ...like us.
Andrew's league?!? Perhaps not, but the two
seem to respect one another.

BTW~ There's a completely positive review that was apparently
good enough to be posted on the band's website ...serendipity.com?!?
in one of these threads, for those interested is reading a good
review!!

i really like this album overall a strong album. once i hit the song "Resonate" i just kept replaying it over and over again. this has to be one of my favoite Journey song in recent years (if not in many years). this song for me just captures Joruney's spirit, there is just a mood to the is captivating that. i would bring out this album to other people, again i don't see the hate. Arrival is till one of my favs... i think this album may be in my top 10 (Journey albums) if not top 5

I love this album, too--Arrival and Eclipse are so very different--that is what is so awesome about Journey/Neal: unpredictable but always in the end true to themselves... Ditto all your other thoughts...

It doesn't sound like Journey because it doesn't have the "lead singer" of Journey on it.

No, I'm pretty sure Arnel's the one singing. :D
