Rip and MG, it's not looking good...

Postby G.I.Jim » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:20 pm

Hey man! I'm not sure about us being able to get together while I'm here. I figured I'd have time this week, but it's been extremely busy so far. I wanted to meet you and MG, but it's not looking good. :( I was up studying for my final exam last night until midnight, I'll test today (this is my 6th test here!) and then I have two breifings I have to prepare for later in the week. I'm sorry, but I may have to do it another time. :(

Sorry girl! I will definitely have to get out here again to make it happen. This month has been so damn hectic and crazy! I cannot WAIT to graduate from this course. It's going to be awesome to get back home to the family too. I'll try to make a MR get-together sometime soon. I know I'll be at the show in Charlotte in Aug. No way I'm missing a chance to see Foreigner and Night Ranger. Oh yeah, and there's some band named Journey that'll be there too.

Apparently, they jumped ship for Sony and were instrumental in helping the Greatest Hits sell 23k this week.

LOL, just saw this thread. I've actually been slammed at work, and more active on the other site as well while the tour is going on. Time flew by really quick this past month, but I was JUST intending on checking base with Jim when he called me yesterday, and we ended up being able to hang out for a few hours the night before he left. I think he's on the road now. Great place with a couple of great bands playing, and the beer (+plus the N/A beer) were flowing freely. Speaking of which, after the 5th or 6th one, N/A beer starts necessitating frequent runs to the bathroom every bit as much as the real stuff, lol.

We have a few pics, and may post some. Safe travels, Jim! MG, hopefully we can come up with a plan next time. This was super impromptu and I just wasn't going to let him out of town without saying hello, lol.

Hey man! Just made it home a couple of hours ago after a 12 1/2 hour ride! :? Man, I was in so much pain today on that car ride that it had me going nuts! I may end up going to the emergency room tomorrow. :( Anyways, enough about that. Rip and I threw back some beers last night (some of them had more alcohol than others, but Rip is a lush!) . I had an awesome time swapping notes with him about music, and we had a great time. I wish I had longer to chat with him, but we were both pretty tired, and we only hung out for probably a couple of hours.

What a great time I had though! He was even gracious enough to give me a ride back to the barracks I was staying in since my crew of homies wanted to leave earlier. Thanks for the great time Rip, and I hope you get your ass up here to SC sometime soon so I can cook you some shit!

Thanks girl, and I hope we get to hang out some time soon! Sorry it didn't work out for a real get together, but my school was much more demanding than I thought it was going to be. I spent most of my nights reading books, writing battle analysis's, preparing for briefings, etc... Very boring stuff, but necessary just the same. I really hope we get a chance to hang out though. Get your butt up here to Charlotte in August and you can catch the show with my wife and I. :D

Dude, I'm in Dallas all the time for shows this year, including Journey in September! Would love to get together soon!

We took 3 pics, and Jim didn't like the only one I looked decent in, lol! I should Photoshop MG in here to class them up a bit. :) BTW, Jim - your friends were very cool - please tell them I said hello if you talk to them anytime soon.

I have a messed up disk in my back, and it's been insanely painful. The pain shoots from between my shoulder blades and goes all the way down into my left hand. :( I messed up my back towards the end of the PT test I took when I first got to the school. The pain does seem a little less over the last couple of days, but I've been on narcotics since I got home Friday night. I couldn't take them while I was at school, or on the ride home (all 12 1/2 hours of it!) because I wouldn't have been able to function. I've been on steroids for a while now which is supposed to bring the swelling down, but they sure aren't helping my waistline. I've probably put on 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks! I've had to eat out for every meal this past month, so that doesn't help either.

Anyways, it's great to be back! That was the most challenging school I've ever been to (academically anyways). I made some great friends over the last month that I hated to say goodbye to, but that's the way those schools go. There are some seriously cool people in this world. I wish more of them lived around here.

Did we mention the little acoustic band on the deck playing Journey?
