I've not heard one song off of Eclipse in the US yet. Has anyone?

Better hurry...not sure how long Wmart will prominently display Eclipse in the new releases section.

I didn't even see it in the new releases section the other day. There were a bunch of EPs for American Idol contestants. This isn't the 80s where Def Leppard and Whitney Houston could take a dead record and bring it back six months later to Diamond status.
I'll be interested to see how they resuscitate Eclipse when they won't even acknowledge its existence on iTunes and Amazon as recently as the interview at Graspop the other day.

Ironic how iTunes single handedly propelled the Greatest Hits back into the Top 20 last week, yet they can't even get one nod from the band in regards to Eclipse.

Wait a second, two weeks ago it was all about how the band didn't care how many albums they sold; now with Eclipse falling out of the Top 100, they want to start rolling promo?
I smell bullshit.

To quote Homer Simpson.. Augh Undo Undo!! Seriously, the release date was just a terrible oversight in that GaGa released the same day with the most aggressive ad campaign known to this decade. [hence the Homer quote  ]

I don't know. Brad Paisley did alright. I just don't see how you can recapture the launch moment. You can send singles to the station but you cant FORCE them to play the songs. I don't even hear advertising for the concerts anymore. Once the tickets go on sale, there isn't any real need to keep promoting it.
Journey will see plenty of tickets sold. They always have and with Foreigner, it just makes for more of a slam dunk. But tickets sold don't equate to albums sold. All the promo in the world won't get the album put back into the new release area. They need to offer it for a discount at the Venues and if they're lucky, they'll break 100,000 sold by Labor Day.

I actually just read something elsewhere tonight where the success of this album will basically determine what happens with the band after 2012. That makes me believe more than ever that this album WAS expected by certain parties to do much better than it has so far.

Seeing Journey live was over for me after I saw them at JFK in 1983. I did see them again in 2008 but it wasn't the same. The detuning, chart position and all that isn't nothing more than fodder to pick at on message boards.
I've got a lot of other shows under my belt the last few years that have given me good times but none of them have as entertaining a forum as this one.

Other than AATY, I have never heard any post-Perry song on any radio station, including Augeri era.

Resonate and AiP should have been U.S. singles.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Agreed. Maybe "Someone" too, but it sounds a little too much like classic Journey.

I stand by my belief that Resonate would have er... resonated with today's generation of alternative/grunge rock aficionado.

It doesn't make any sense to start promoting an album months after it has been released. I'm not sure I'm buying into that.

As far as radio releases, the best chance for me to hear new stuff from these classic bands is to listen to stations that promote hits from "the 80's, 90's, and today!" Which means adult contemporary stations that play mostly soft rock and pop. That type of station is where I heard "After All These Year's" played on it. Also heard "When It Comes to Love" from Foreigner played on that station as well. In fact, I did hear (caught it half way through) that station play "All The Way" from Arrival back years ago, but it was only one time. However, the same station played Perry's "I Stand Alone" to death in '98. The other radio stations I can listen to are top 40, classic rock stations, that do not play new material from classic bands, and a hard rock station that is more on the level of Avenge Sevenfold or Metallica. They wouldn't touch anything from Journey.

So, with all that said, the best bet for Journey would be to release something like "Anything is Possible" to adult contemporary stations. "Tantra" wouldn't be touched (thank God), and the rest of the album wouldn't "fit" with the music format of those stations even though they do play "Separate Ways" to death. :-/
