Columbo, along with The Rockford Files were the best. He will be missed. Nobody will be able to replace him as Columbo. Hope they don't screw things up with a new movie.

I never cared for Columbo but I liked him as the Grandfather in "The Princess Bride".

McMillan, McCloud, and now Columbo. Is Jim Rockford the only one still kicking?

James Garner ( Rockford) is still living. He did the voice for a character in some animated flick last year.

I heard somewhere recently that Garner is supposed to be very sick and the outlook is not good. I don't know why but I always picture him in his younger years as the Scrounge King in "The Great Escape".

That's sad to hear. He's always been a fav of mine. I liked the Rockford Files and I liked him in Maverick the series as well as the movie....well, all of his movies I've seen, really...I just like the western's the most. Great actor,, dramatically and with great comedic timing too. Aside from acting, by all accounts, I've heard he's a good man as well. I hope he pulls out of it and if not I hope he doesn't suffer in too much pain. :(

James Garner was in The Notebook a few years ago too as the older character for Noah, he was great. Yeah, yeah, chick-flick, lol, but still great.

Oh I know, it's a great movie, one of my favorites. I just know it's considered a chick flick.

Forgot to mention Garner is the narrator too, and with that great voice that made the movie even better.

Very good movie. There's another he did with Sally Field called "Murphy's Romance". I don't think it was big in the box office or anything but its one that always comes to mind when I think of him that I liked very much as well.

According to this list, there have been 39 celebrity/famous person deaths so far this year. Wow! The year is only just half over! Seems like an awful lot for some reason.
