LiD was filler. For all the bashing here about Eclipse's songs that go nowhere or overindulgent solos, how is it that this song can be held up as some sort of mastery? Don't get me wrong, I love me some classic-era Journey. But every song on Eclipse is better than Lay it Down and/or Dead or Alive

I agree with those songs being filler.

AND I'm going to get this off my chest finally...
I know its a diehard popular tune, but lyrically I really, really don't like Edge Of The Blade. In fact it's towards the bottom of my list for all Journey songs. I know its a rocker but there are others to listen to. I never play EOTB. Ugh. Far too negative a song, especially for Journey, so I skip it.

<gasp!> dark. melodic. shredding. EOTB would have fit great on Eclipse, save the non-tantric sentiment. EOTB is a top-20 fav jrny song for me. I can see why you kept this opinion to yourself for so long :wink:

Sorry, I should have made it clear that it was back in my junior high days. I wish plays on a jukebox were still only a quarter. My local bowling alley used to have an Internet jukebox with $1 a play. You could listen to just about any song you would want to listen to, but $1 is too rich for my cheap blood.

Damn! That was freakin' incredible - I'd never seen video of that performed live. Steve was definitely at the top of his game then.

Smitty came up at work today, and it was none of my doing. :lol: :lol: A friend was talking about how his favorite drummer was Neal Peart. Good taste, if you ask me. He kept going on and on about how Peart was this and that, and some dude from the back of the room said, "You need to check out Steve Smith! During and especially after his time with Journey!" I was like.. :D Was really cool to hear from someone I don't even know.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
