True...I should have used "not guilty" also, technically.Enigma869 wrote:lights1961 wrote: so now who did it, maybe somehow the grandparents are involved????
Never lose sight of the fact that a verdict of "not guilty" and innocent are two entirely different things. Not guilty doesn't mean that she didn't commit the crime. It means that the State of Florida wasn't able to convince the jury that she did commit the crime.

When he left the court room smiling at them, it made her phisically ill. Jurors do not have an easy job. Sometimes they have to let the guilty free.

maybe somehow the grandparents are involved????

My tax $ will pay for her vacation there, too, as it's been paying for her to live life knowing she killer her beautiful daughter. Then, once she's out, she'll be clubbing it up, maybe consider doing Playboy or maybe some reality show.
Yesterday while driving I saw about 8-10 cars pulled over on the highway for speeding. Let's see...it's not OK to go over the speed limit, but it's OK to kill someone. Nice.
If they DON'T only follow the facts...THEY aren't doing their jobs. That is a worse jury, that bases it on "feelings". If anyone thinks the OJ case and this are the only guilty getting off, they're kidding themselves. This happens everyday, with different cases. This was just highly publicized. And many innocents go to jail too. Not a perfect system. But it's all we have. And based on what you just said, say that when you get called to jury duty, and they won't pick you.S2M wrote:People can't be serious in thinking that juries only take actual facts and evidence into consideration when deliberating. No one wanted her in jail more than the cops. Don't use that comparison. I have several cops on my FB just as disgusted with the verdict, thinking why do they even bother being in that career, just for people getting away with their crimes. Cops write tickets, and cops like to see murderers in jail.mrsromek wrote:I'm with YoungJRNY on this one. What a joke. She'll be in the pen, what, a year when it's all said and done? Big deal. I don't vote, therefore I don't get called in for jury duty. I'd love to sit on a jury.

The 5th amendment to theconstitution gives every criminal defendant the right not to testify, and jurors will be told that they cannot assume anything negative if the defendant decides to keep quiet. Of course, some jurors do make assumptions -- and they cast their votes accordingly.

Sean, I do not want to think that jurors MAKE ASSUMPTIONS. They are not doing their civic duty if they do. What you are suggesting, why even have a court system. You don't go by feelings. They are told exactly what they can and cant' do. And there isn't just one juror, so that the people who don't understand, a majority will follow things the way a jury is told to.
This was my husband's, a cop's, 2 cents from facebook and I agree, though I doubt any of you care.:
"My two cents
We still have the best, most fair, legal system in the world. Do most of us believe Casey is guilty? Sure we do. I think she's guilty as hell, and she'll burn there some day. Based on the rules of our society, we can't put people in jail because we think they deserve it..."
