Brandt: Favre might have itch, but who will scratch?

Almost time to fire up Favre Watch 2011? On one hand, says NFL.com’s Gil Brandt, yes. Then again, Brandt says, NFL teams might not be all that interested.

When asked about a possible return of Brett Favre to Minnesota during his live chat Tuesday, Brandt indicated that he believes the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns is indeed getting back that itch. The only catch is that, while the Vikings put on the full-court press to have Favre return last summer, Brandt doesn’t see Minnesota or any other team sending its private jet down to Hattiesburg, Miss., this summer.

“I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning,” Brandt said. “But I don’t see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter.”

Brandt noted that the Vikings need to get first-round draft pick Christian Ponder in the starting lineup as soon as possible, and Favre isn’t the right QB to be grooming — and giving way to — a young player.

“Brett is still a good quarterback, but I’d consider him a descending quarterback,” Brandt said. “It’s awfully hard for him to go to a team and be a backup. The Vikings must start Christian Ponder this season to get him some experience. And they’re not going to get Favre in there to babysit Ponder.”

if Favre lowers his asking price then maybe a couple teams might show interest but no one at this point is going to pay 10 or 15 million a season for him.

Fuck this guy. What a world class douche. I honestly have no idea how ANY fan of football could be a fan of this guy. Truly one of the most annoying players in the history of the NFL. Here's hoping that one of his tractors falls on his ankle and snaps his achilles, or he gets caught texting a picture of his cock to his 16 year old babysitter

I'd love to see Favre's career end with a 600lb defensive lineman love sandwich...

This pretty much almost happened. I think it was against Detroit, not sure but he got completely flat-lined against a defensive lineman, which forced him out of the lineup I believe. In 2009, I saw Favre have one of the best seasons of his career. In 2010, it was the saddest. I was a big-time Favre supporter, but it's time to put #4 6ft under and only remember him from ghosts past.

He needs to go back to GB, and ride the sideline behind Aaron Rodgers to get his 20th year.
Then officially retire as a Packer.

The ones I know do.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I would be embarrassed. I had respect for Favre when he "retired' from the Packers. Since then, nope!!!

Well if he keeps showing his 'little man" to some of these female sideline reports, he's going to need to keep playing until he's 60!

I'm reasonably certain that everyone knows the answer to that question. Listen to one of the guy's post game press conferences. He talks about how "amazed" he is by what he is able to accomplish. Never seen anything like this fucker in my 30+ years of being an NFL die hard. I have zero respect for the guy, and his election to the Hall of Fame will be completely puke-inducing for me!
