The USA was well on its way to a stunning victory over Brazil in the Women's World Cup. A normal challenge in the box, the American touched the ball, yet somehow the referee rewarded a penalty kick for Brazil (which NEVER should have happened) - AND the referee COMPLETELY WITHOUT MERIT OR REASON gave the US player a red card!
Then the US keeper saved the penalty kick perfectly, and the US was almost assured of winning and moving on. THEN, the ref calls the penalty kick back (which NEVER EVER happens) and demands a re-kick because the US keeper moved "prematurely" off the line (which she did not - most keepers move FAR EARLIER in the kick than she did). So of course Brazil converted the second chance, and now the US will lose.
Soccer referees are the worst in the world and given the low scores, the most likely to being bribed. There are referee match-fixing scandals all over the world on the national and international level...this match is CLEARLY fixed. Brazil not only didn't deserve a penalty kick in the first place, they certainly didn't deserve the advantage of playing with one more player than the US...let alone the penalty re-kick, which is an outright travesty.
This needs to be looked into on the international level. The referee is being paid off.
