James Harrison Rips Roethlisberger

Classic shit here against his own teammate...

James Harrison wrote:“Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again. Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain’t that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does.”

This guy is a complete jackass. Even though I don't disagree with his sentiment that that Steelers team is all about defense, it's still a moronic statement to make. Not to mention, the guy posing with two guns in a magazine is beyond clueless.

Hines Ward should give him a lift to anger management class on his way to his own meetings.

Dude, it's James Harrison. This dude is completely out of his mind, out-spoken & a killing machine, nothing more or less. Met him and actually was a kind dude, played with the kids and everything. Will be curious to see how Goodell, Rooney or Tomlin will handle this. Probably won't be pretty.

Yeah, real kind dude... plays with children, beats women   . In all seriousness, is something going on in Steelerland that would make Harrison want out? I can't imagine him making these comments without having some kind of end game

Honestly Matt, I'm not sure that it's any more complicated than a guy who is annoyed that the QB on his team probably gets a whole lot more credit than he deserves for the Steelers winning their recent Super Bowls. The Steelers win on defense, period, end of story, and any observer of the NFL knows that. Hell, their offense isn't even that good. He apparently just wants everyone on the planet to know that he doesn't hold the QB of his team in very high regard, and that the guy couldn't carry Peyton's jock.

No. It's James Harrison, anyone with a brain that follows the guy over the years knows he is candid as it comes and had diarrhea from the mouth and will speak his mind WHATEVER is on his mind at the moment. If it was somebody like Polamalu, I'd be worried but it seems that once social media like tweeting took over the internet, these athletes have been bickering back and forth for whatever reason. Why would James Harrison want to leave Pittsburgh, a city that RULES on defense and ranks consistently as the NFL's best defense's yearly & who competes for a championship yearly? The Steelers breed linebackers like Harrison so he has no reason to want to leave here. The dude's still un-blockable, he'll have another monster season.

Come on now, what a joke of a statement. Ben may not do things pretty like Manning or Brady but he is as dangerous as any QB in the league with his own, gritty style. He's done some magical things as a QB. I've seen them with my own eyes, you know, your so-called "eyeball test."

A nice write-up.

"James Harrison is wrong: Roethlisberger and Manning are equals"

The Cold, Hard Football Facts also love Passing YPA as a way to measure the effectiveness of quarterbacks. YPA is easier to understand than passer rating, it provides for better comparisons across eras (YPA has remained relatively constant over the past 70 years, while passer ratings have soared) and, most importantly, YPA is also a Quality Stat. In other words, like passer rating, passing YPA has a direct correlation to winning football games.

Yards Per Attempt
Year Manning Roethlisberger
2004 9.17 8.89
2005 8.27 8.90
2006 7.89 7.49
2007 7.85 7.81
2008 7.21 7.04
2009 7.88 8.55
2010 6.92 8.23
Total 7.88 8.04

Manning is one of the most effective passers in the game today, with an average of 7.88 YPA over the last seven seasons (and 7.60 for his career). But Roethlisberger is one of the most effective passers in history: his average of 8.04 YPA is the fifth best mark of all time.

Three of the four players ahead of him on the career YPA list are in the Hall of Fame, and each proves the validity of YPA as a Quality Stat.

Harrison wrong about Roethlisberger

In 2010, Roethlisberger not only didn’t ask the Steelers defense to bail him out frequently, he was arguably the best quarterback in the league at helping his team reverse field position when backed up against its own goal line.

Roethlisberger completed 147 of 204 passes for 2,094 yards with three TDs and three interceptions in his own territory last season. His 103.7 passer rating here is even more impressive when one considers the difficulty in throwing touchdowns on plays that originate at least 51 yards from the end zone.

Of the 33 quarterbacks who threw at least 100 passes in their own territory last regular season, none had a better passer rating on those attempts than Roethlisberger, and his 10 yards per attempt on these passes was also best in the NFL.
